3 qt iPot users : bowl for pressure steamed rice ?

I hesitate to start a new topic .

[ed.: Ha Ha Ha ]

it came up elsewhere that a 3 qt iPot might be nice for

pressure steam'd rice , a few PS'd potatoes etc

if you have a 3 qt iPot

what sort of bowl fits in it , above the minimum water level

for iPot'd steamed rice ?

maybe AmPrime will have iPots ( basic ) on sale

but Id like to investigate that bowl first

how much rice might one fit in that bowl ?

1 cup rice + water to get the rice just right is what Im looking for.

I don't bother. I'll add a cup of rice to the normal pan and approximately 1 3/4 cup water more or less, depending on whether I'm adding anything else. It's very difficult to put bowls inside, but glass ones with straight sides will work; i don't think you'll be able to fit bowl and a full cup of uncooked rice in, however.

I also just use the insert. I think I saw it here, but the secret to not having the rice stick is to go with a full natural release (and I cook the rice at full pressure for 4 minutes). Works great with easy cleanup.

Yeah I do it for five minutes, and the natural release for at least ten, though it isn’t strictly necessary.

it’s also a great opportunity to start adding anything but water to cook your rice in.

For rice in the 3qt:   I use the insert, I mainly do basmati.  I use the IP rice cup and eyeball the corresponding water level.  I use the Rice setting and natural release.   I fluff it in the pot.   I dump it out onto a cookie sheet to cool if I plan to store it cooked in the fridge.  Stays fluffy, not gummy.

to contiune ...

my larger pots , eventually had various

" baskets "  that sat above the trivet

so they the items in that basket , might pressure-steam

and be easily removed at that P.S.

is there something iike that for the 3 Qt ?

thanks

its just easier to pull a basket out of any iPot

when iPotted over the water below the trivit.
