Hello! I'm learning to cook!

Recommended Posts

Welcome.  In the cooking section there are also the eGullet cooking classes.

What skills do you have already?  Is there anything you are looking to learn to do?

Ask questions.....

Nothing is better than frying in lard.

Nothing.  Do not quote me on this.

Honey, just read and get in the kitchen. There's enough on here I'll be learning for the next century, should I stumble onto some long-life potion....

Don't ask. Eat it.

I am waiting for tips from experienced users. How do I start learning?☺️

Find a grandma. Or, lacking that, an aunt. Ask if you could hang out in their kitchen for, say, three months.

"There is no sincerer love than the love of food."  -George Bernard Shaw, Man and Superman, Act 1

Gene Weingarten, writing in the Washington Post about online news stories and the accompanying readers' comments: "I basically like 'comments,' though they can seem a little jarring: spit-flecked rants that are appended to a product that at least tries for a measure of objectivity and dignity. It's as though when you order a sirloin steak, it comes with a side of maggots."
