I made this recipe for Thanksgiving, and MAN, it was a hit.  My guests couldn't stop eating them, and they are so easy to just pop in your mouth and deliciously fun to chew, savor, and swallow, that I found that I polished off a whole tray by myself by the end of the day.  They are buttery, peanutty, slightly salty, and my goodness, the glob of chocolate in the center is DELIGHTFUL.  No wonder this got such great reviews.  It's quick to make, fun to bake (especially the part when you press the kisses into the ooey gooey middles and eat all the rest for yourself), and yummy to nibble with a hot mug of steamy deliciousness after a long day of work.  Straight into my mouth and into my heart.  I'll be making these again!

I haven't thought of them in ages, but I remember baking similar cookies when I was  a kid, for school bake sales. This was back in the day when peanuts could roam freely in school corridors though I'm sure the nuns would have had a plenty to say about them absorbing into anyone's soul.

Ours were just regular PB cookie dough, rolled into a ball and smushed with a kiss. I think I put the kisses on before baking as I recall their tips getting dark and caramelized.  Or maybe I intentionally overbaked those so I could eat them myself xD.

The advantage with baking the kisses on the cookie is that the chocolate pretty much loses temper, becomes softer and easier to eat. Putting them on afterward so they stay cold, means there's a large, hard chunk of chocolate you have to bite through if you want to get something like an even proportion of cookie and chocolate in each bite. Unless you nibble the cookie off and then pop the whole kiss in your mouth and wait for it to melt a bit. I was never fond of really thick chocolates over 1cm high, like Chunky bars or the kisses. But, I am sure some people find it delightful.
