What a cool idea and what an unsatisfying video and text. Talk about burying the lead (or " lede "if you must). 

 

Awkward cooks, no description of the food...what the hell are those red veg...

 

Does neither the food or the history justice. 

But what a neat topic. 

I'm going to go check the book of Daniel and see if there is more detail.

They are beets, as described in the text of the article linked to at the top of my post. The video isn't great on its own, but then they are not professional cooks or, I expect cinematographers.
