I am starving. Fixed Thai peanut noodles for lunch. That wasn't want I wanted. Ditto yogurt and fruit. Ditto cheese and crackers. I am distraught. And hungry. And it's storming and I don't want to get out. And I think I'll whine.

Whine away or get serious and pour a glass or three.

Lunch today, Meatballs with Vodka Sauce over angel hair.

You can only see the bottom of the glass of Syrah that I had with this, it's Whitehall Lane's first Syrah (small batch limited to wine club members) - and damn is it good for it's price point.

Noodle bowl with fresh shiitake mushrooms, broccoli, miso marinated egg, instant ramen noodles and this soup base:

I believe I learned about it from @JoNorvelleWalker.  It is amazing stuff.

Made a corn chowder today for lunch or what ever.   Inspired by the couple bags of cobs in the freezer and a few fresh ears that needed to get used along with a long sweet red and poblano pepper in the fridge. Always love when cleaning out the fridge turns into something delicious.  Beats cleaning out your closet

We went to one of B's favorite fish restaurants for brunch today (Memorial Day):

B says that this other place - which is located 100 feet away from Barbara's Fishtrap is not as good since the menu is more pedestrian although they do take credit cards. Anyway, you decide if you ever make it out to my neck of the woods.

On to the food:

Wedge salad with bacon and blue cheese dressing

Scallops with garlic and white wine, served with rice and fried zucchini sticks

Half-order of steamed clams, served with green sauce and lemon

Tres leches cake

With coffee and tea, the bill came out to $120 (tax and 20% tip included) for two people. Pretty good.

Not as ambitious as Liuzhou with his wontons...but had shirataki noodles and baby choy sum on hand. The Thai basil also needed nipping, so all made a great lunch.

We have those plates, and those custard cups. But they look so much better when you plate food than when I do!

These plates and cups are purchased at yard sale and thrift shop for our beach house.  Now I like them so much that I want a set for my condo where I have a very large assortment of while plates in various shapes but no color!

Dinner planned-overs. Tonjiru—miso.  Soup with pork and vegetables. The planned-overs were also partly leftovers from the gift that keeps on giving—a hefty amount of Chinese barbeque pork from this beast:

It arrived here originally almost a week ago when I enjoyed it fresh and still warm  and with gorgeous crackling but I froze the leftovers and they are still providing meals for me.
