I just don't want to look back and think "I could have eaten that."

Unsupervised, rebellious, radical agrarian experimenter, minimalist penny-pincher, and adventurous cook. Crotchety, cantankerous, terse curmudgeon, non-conformist, and contrarian who questions everything!

The best thing about a vegetable garden is all the meat you can hunt and trap out of it!

The omnivores grabbed the plates before I could take a pic again, and this time it's a double damn, because I actually managed to make beautiful fondant potatoes with my seared steaks.    They turned out beautiful, were snatched over to the table, promptly doused with ketchup, and scarfed down.

I was baffled to see my 13 year old dipping her steak in creamy Italian dressing because she couldn't find ranch. I need to hide dressings. Who does that???!!  Grr.   Might as well make chicken nuggets and fries!

@ChocoMom no, no, no.  They will see the errors of their ways eventually.  Maybe forget to buy more ketchup and if they really want it they can buy Ketchup with their own money.  Just an idea but then again I have not raised kids....just my DHxD

Frantically digging to get the garden started for this year. Found some more of these surprises from last winter. Nice reward for a hard day's work.

Payback time for our neighbors who clear our big driveway every winter. Their daughter was visiting from out west. I heard her say "I LOVE WONTONS!": when I called, but I didn't know which ones she liked...wonton soup or deep fried wontons. So, I made both!

Little "hats" for wonton soup and pouches for deep fry

Forgot to take picture of the deep fried wontons, but we did have a bowl of soup for OUR lunch...just to make sure it was seasoned properly, of course!

Very tired tonight.  Nothing special but quite tasty, even if the wine ran out.  A bit of rib steak, broccolini, and baked potato.

Before I realized that this was a fresh harvest photo,, I thought you had devoted your fanciful plating skills to making a carrot dish that looked like dirty, freshly harvested carrots.

They do look nicer cleaned up and on the plate!

Ann T's honey garlic chicken--this time I cracked open a jar of Cowboy Candy (candied jalapeños ) that I canned and added some.  I should have done that a long time ago.  Edited to say---not that Ann's recipe isn't fabulous the way it is.  The jalapeños just added some extra heat :)
