Basa fish skin with edible starch, salt, vegetable oil (containing tert-Butylhydroquinone), pepper, and MSG.

These are "original flavour", but they also come in "spicy flavour" and "salted egg flavour".

 

Of course, they do.

Found this morning. One of a range of new snack products.

You will be thrilled to know that this one comes in two versions. Red chilli or yellow chilli flavoured. This is the red one.

 

It was edible but I won't be rushing back for more.

 

P.S. The Chinese name, 素毛肚 (sù máo dù) literally translates as "vegetable tripe'.

Are these potato snacks dry and crunchy?

 

I remember my mom buying us "shoesting potatoes" that came in a round cardboard can in California in the 60's. I haven't seen anything like it since. Full disclosure, though, I never sought such a thing out because I didn't really like it that much. The ones we had as kids were really, really dry. Mom loved them, though.

I think the one's my mom was buying are these ones from French's company.

 

I'll never like them, but you know what else that company makes? French fried onions. The harmless and nutritious onion is transformed into a fat-laden, carbohydrate-packed and sodium-packed delivery vehicle for deliciousness. These onions are critical for our culture's classic green bean casserole with Campbell's mushroom soup that appears at fall and winter holidays. They are EXCELLENT salad toppers or secret guilty snack items. :)

Something similar (ie, plain potato sticks) has been sporadically available off and on since I was a kid. A version with hickory smoke flavoring has been infinitely more popular, and is available everywhere. They're my GF's kryptonite when she's trying to keto, and usually one of the first things she goes for when she takes a break from the diet.

I had to Google that and I think it is the wildest looking plant I've ever seen!  Incredible.

They also do fried dill pickle chips and fried jalapenos...they are really good on casseroles, burgers and salads.

I've seen chia seeds here before, but only in a specialist "strange food" shop, but these popped up in my neighbourhood supermarket yesterday.

So I had some Lays Stax Cheddar flavored chips....they're the poor man's Pringles. xD

I was suddenly inspired to sprinkle a little black pepper (I have a small shaker of ground black pepper in my desk at work) on a chip before eating. It certainly improved this mediocre faux potato chip.:B

Pepper improves most things in my opinion. And there are some very interesting peppers out there that are worth exploring.

Yes! I know what you mean A friend purchased Aleppo Pepper from Penzey's and found it far too "hot" for her so she gave it to me. I'd never had it before and quite enjoy the "kick" it has.

Toasted piece of Calandra's bread spread with some pimento cheese then run under the broiler until toasty and bubbly.  Topped with some of our thinly sliced yellow pear tomatoes.
