Breakfast! 2017 (Part 2)

Those eggs in puff pastry look delicious @David Ross!  I’m impressed – every time I’ve tried something similar to that, I’ve ended up with overcooked eggs!

Christmas breakfast – the obligatory Pillsbury Orange Danish tree:

Sour cream dough, filled with dried apricots and maraschino cherries.

My grandmother, Bebo’s, fruit salad:

Sausage rolls:

These were new to me.  I’ve always made my sausage rolls with sausage links that I’ve cooked because I was never convinced that raw sausage would cook through and I also thought raw would make the pastry too greasy.  So, I asked some questions here at eG, was assured that all would be fine and JohnT supplied me with a recipe.  They were fantastic – we all agreed that they were much better than my old ones.  So glad I have more in the freezer!

Smoked salmon, cream cheese and bagels:

Occasionally it is good to indulge. A fry-up with all the things I like and none of the things I don’t like.  The egg was a double yolker but one of the yolks did not survive my ineptness.

This is Gail Simmon's My Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich from her cookbook, Bringing It Home: Favorite Recipes from a Life of Adventurous Eating.  The recipe is available  online here

I wasn't sure about the dill pickles and peppadews but I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed it.

If anything constitutes adventurous eating, it would be tackling that beast of a sandwich!
