if you can find Jones , generally frozen , you will be fine

 

cut it fairly thick   while its cold and do not crowd nor hurry the cooking  

 

Id say 1/2 " for beginners    1/4 " is way to think   you should be able to tap the back of a spoon lightly on the crust and it won't give.

 

Jones I think is a National Brand.

 

I lived in the in Philadelphia suburbs fro 3 + months.  there were 4 brands ' Packed ' and fz and 3 - 4 fresh  I ate it almost every night

 

with home made mashed potatoes etc

Light breakfast to keep stomach space free for hefty lunch-time dinner.

Banana, quickly upgraded with a scatter of coconut, peanuts and a few anise seeds, which were quickly crushed in a morter.

Oh, and mint leaves.

I'm sorry. It puts me too much in mind of "souse meat," or "head cheese," both of which were made from the leftover pieces of pig when we would kill hogs. Not up there on my list of must-try's.

 

Don't ask. Eat it.

I had six apples to use up and not enough going on in my life, so I made a giant apple rose tart for breakfast this morning. 

 

Shortcrust pastry base made with orange juice and zest, blind baked, brushed in apricot jam and then with slices of apple fanned out over in. Dusted in ginger, sugar and baked, glazed with stem ginger syrup and more apricot jam and eaten warm.

 

Them apples; you would like them.

This was a 63°C egg that had been refrigerated. I plopped it into a pan of boiling water for about 90 secs.

Dang, all those breakfasts look fantastic.

I guess I'll post mine but it hardly stacks up.

Colcannon cake, microwaved scrambled eggs, homemade bacon and some cherry tomatoes.  The colcannon cake was the star.  Good thing I have a huge container of it in the fridge.

technically eaten at lunch time after returning from the gym, but first meal of the day...wheat/multigrain bagel with avocado and a few splats of green (tomatillo) salsa on top.

Chased by a sip of red wine from last night's leftovers;)

Ann, everything you make looks wonderful.  But your bread is truly amazing.  Whenever you post it, I just want to sit down with a plate of hot, buttered toast and eat 'til I fall over.

You know that I feel the same way about your meals.   I think that we cook very similar.

 

 

Anyone that knows me, knows that I don't like salads. Never have.

I can make them, but I just don't get any satisfaction out of eating a salad.

But Moe loves salads.

So I decided to be a good wife this morning and make him a "breakfast salad".

Salad comprised of fried potatoes, bacon, tomatoes, avocado and red onion. Topped with a poached egg. And garlic croutons made from my homemade baguette.

He loved it.
