Cuisinart Combo Steam/Convection Oven (Part 3)

First the bad and sad news.  One of my CSO's died last week.  The whole top heating element went out.  It's not surprising since I used it so very very much.

The good news:  I've never been so happy to have a spare of something in my basement in my life!

My new backup CSO should be here today 😁

still $ 199.00

just trying to be helpful here

Yep.  That's the price I got on the one coming today.  I believe there is a refurbished one for around $130 if anyone is interested in that.

I doubt there will ever be an Anova SO, or ASO.  I don't know that for sure

but that's my bet.  we would have seen it by now.

what's a bit odd to me , is that the folks at Breville haven't move in the SO direction.

can't be that hard.

Anova was very transparent that the delay was due to Electrolux but that they now had the go-ahead for the steam oven.

So, back to toast.  This is what the top and the bottom of toast look like when I toast in the CSO on 3:

The bottom doesn't bother me at all, but if it bothers someone else, I just flip halfway through.  I never had a toaster that I didn't have to do the flip with anyway, so I figure what's the difference?

@Kim Shook

are you using the crumb tray , and is the tray clean ?   it reflects heat

and what position is the rick in ?

its  not the " middle " for me. but 3/4 of the way down.

I make it a point not to look at the flip side of toast

dod you bread have sugar ion it ?

My CSO for sourdough needs a # 8   # 7 just barely gets the job done

Mine is very similar to yours.

Not using the crumb tray - just the rack on the second lowest position.  This particular bread has sugar in it, but this happens with pretty much every bread I toast.  And since they are almost all commercial loaves, they probably all have sugar.  And I just checked the ingredients for the loaf I make most often and it has honey in it.

I've been lured into this whole CSO talk only to discover it's discontinued. Are there any other similar products on the market with steam? It seems from my research that the Brevilles do not have steam.
