Ok you all have convinced me. I just ordered my CSO.

Welcome to the family. I am one of the black sheep members who has not yet ordered a spare.

If one wanted (just) a way to toast spices or nuts, is a CSO or BSO faster or simpler than a conventional oven?

Nuts do. I can't testify to spices.

My CSO arrived yesterday. This morning I enjoyed  two CSO firsts: toast and a steamed slice of two year old fruitcake. Both were great. Now I'm trying to figure out my next projects... obviously chicken thighs but what else... maybe bake some bread. Happy to join the CSO group/cult.  🙂

CSO chicken thighs for dinner tonight. Delicious!  🙂

Found a corning casserole dish in my cabinets that will fit in the oven — planning to make a small cheese lasagna sometime this week.

This TeamFar 8x10x3 inch pan makes for a great CSO lasagna pan:

(I just made CSO chicken Tetrazzini in mine.)

That same pan is $17.99 on Amazon.com and $63.58  on Amazon Canada.

I bought that same pan about a year ago, it’s a bargain for that price.

Sorry it’s so costly there.

I'm sorry it is so costly here too.  Otherwise I would buy it.

@Ann_T, I could buy one here and bring it back to Vancouver Island with me when we return in March/April, if you don't mind waiting for it.

While I was baking my bread last night the no steam alarm went off.  Water reservoir was full. I had just performed a vinegar flush a few weeks ago and I use only deionized water.  I am not thrilled.

I forget, did you have to de-gunk last time?

I can count on three fingers the number of times I’ve used the steam function in my CSO.

i bake all my breads in my big oven since they rise too tall for the small CSO.

For  proofing I use the bread proofing box I got from KAF., it works great.
