Old Sure-Jell and Fruit Jell

This morning I found an old, unopened package of Sure-Jell for low sugar recipes tucked way in the back of a cabinet.  It has a use-by date of June, 1996.  I also found an unopened package of Ball's Fruit Jell with a use-by date of 12/96.  Are these still useable?

Nope, pectin looses potency over time. It won't hurt anyone to try it, but, more than likely it simply won't work.
