Cleaning & Disinfecting Plastic Cutting Boards

I have a set of three sizes of plastic cutting boards.  The largest is often used when slicing homemade bread so it has a few nicks but nothing major.  I clean all of mine routinely in the d/w.  They come out sterilized and nicely cleaned.  I've had these for many years (more than ten) and they are in very good condition and I expect they will last me forever.

I had a Boos type board years ago and ended up donating it because it was suck a PITA to get and keep clean, as well as to keep oiled.  I never felt like it was clean enough.

I use my poly-boards on top of the various figured wood boards i have, most hand made at home.

the poly's are stacked end up at one point of the kitchen counter and put back.

I get to see the beautiful wood all the time, but do most of the serious cutting on the Poly

Me too. I only have a bamboo one but it has a slot for the poly, seven of them, very handy.  Just got it and I am well pleased.

Beyond the topic of cutting boards I am glad that this came up. I did some related research that has changed the way I look at hand sanitizers. I will be using them less and washing my hands more. Norovirus is the reason. I had been under the mistaken impression that hand sanitizers killed a broader spectrum of germs than they do.

My faire kitchen cutting boards will still get 100 ppm bleach sanitizing, however. Lest anyone think I do so at home, no, they go through the dishwasher at home after a hand scrubbing first.
