Hello from sunny Florida!

Hello all. I am so happy to be on this forum. Pastry has been a passion of mine for 11 years now. I read and watch everything I can to learn for learning's sake. I have spent the last 18 years raising children and am now thinking about a life in pastry-still considering possibilities. Although my interest on this forum is mostly pastry-centric, I love to cook savory, as well. I admit that I still get a little shiver down my back every time the garlic hits the hot olive oil!  In any case, I look forward to increasing my knowledge through the generous offerings of the people on this board, as well as humbly putting in my two cents for any topic I feel I can add to. Thanks in advance to all for your sharing.

Sincerely,

AKS613

Gene Weingarten, writing in the Washington Post about online news stories and the accompanying readers' comments: "I basically like 'comments,' though they can seem a little jarring: spit-flecked rants that are appended to a product that at least tries for a measure of objectivity and dignity. It's as though when you order a sirloin steak, it comes with a side of maggots."

"...in the mid-’90s when the internet was coming...there was a tendency to assume that when all the world’s knowledge comes online, everyone will flock to it.
