New Lays Potato Chip Flavors

Recommended Posts

In regards to the three new flavors I previously mentioned...

I re-tried the flavors.

I can't really review the Fried Green Tomatoes Flavored Chips as I have led a deprived life and have never tasted a fried green tomato. Shocking, isn't it? :o

The Everything Bagel Chips still didn't have much flavor, IMHO. I think part of the gimmick here is that some of the chips have poppy seeds on them. Other than that, I can't figure out the draw of this chip flavor.

The Crispy Taco flavored chips have the most flavor, I believe. I can definitely taste cumin and chile powder...though It tastes more like enchilada sauce than a crispy taco.

I found this one in a small convenience store on Phi Phi island, Thailand. I am looking very much forward to try them tomorrow night :)

I find all the flavored chips to be wonderful diet aids.  I don't really care for most of them that I've tried, but even with the ones that I liked, I never found myself eating half a bag without thinking about it like I can with a bag of plain old salt Utz!

With almost all of these flavours I find myself thinking as I enjoy the first one that it really does taste like whatever flavours it purports to be. Then by the third chip I’m completely disillusioned.

They are a fine diet food because most of the time I just bin the whole bag.  Not so with my favourite Lays Sour Cream and Onion though even these don’t do it for me much anymore.

I rely on the Wavy Lay's Hickory BBQ chips most of the time.  Other than those, I crave Doritos Nacho Cheese flavor.  Both go great with sandwiches and I keep both on hand at all times.

Regarding the new flavor contest, a winner has been declared:

"Crispy Taco Wins Lay’s 'Do Us a Flavor' Contest"

Quote

...today, Texan Ellen Sarem took home $1 million for her Crispy Taco iteration. Lay's fans across the country voted on the chip company’s website, Twitter, and Instagram to determine the winner. Sarem’s flavor, which includes fresh lettuce, tomato, and cheese was apparently the tastiest.

Somehow my grocery delivery order brought me “mozzarella n marinara” flavored Ruffles and not the regular kind I ordered. My husband liked them a lot. I thought they lacked flavor but did not lack salt.

As a lover of vinegar chips, wasabi sounds great. You probably can't eat a whole lot of them, but they'd be a tasty accompaniment to certain lunches.

Salted egg yolk flavoured fried fish skin is THE hot item in Hong Kong right now. Most of them are quite good, also itheir potato cousins. Freeze dried egg yolk powder is not expensive ...

There is only one way to find out, @liuzhou ...

"Lay’s Adds Beer Cheese, Flamin' Hot Dill Pickle, and Lime & Sea Salt Potato Chip Flavors"

Quote

Potato chip giant Lay’s has announced its releasing three limited-edition flavors as part of its new “Turn Up the Flavor” campaign. The flavors themselves are pretty fun: the aforementioned Kettle Cooked Classic Beer Cheese, which offers a bit of a cheddar and sour cream vibe; Wavy Electric Lime and Sea Salt, giving the classic tortilla chip seasoning an enjoyable potato counterpoint; and Flamin’ Hot and Dill Pickle, which actually packs some heat while delivering a nice sour balance.

If they show up in your area, please take one for the team and post a review.

If you go to Lay's web site (click) you can look through their current flavor offerings. Sadly, no wasabi ginger amongst them.

Two out of the three I can find within a mile of my house...NOT in a supermarket but in convenience stores and markets attached to gas stations.  Have to get out tomorrow morning for a paper so will investigate.

I just hope the dill pickle part really is dill pickle like.  So far the best dill pickle taste we have found is from Utz...none of the others have that pucker power - including Route 11, one of my favorite chip companies.

So along with my paper this morning I was able to secure small bags of the Flamin Hot Dill Pickle remix and the Electric Lime Sea Salt chips.

Brought them home and just opened each bag up.  Spread them each out on their own tray.  My thinking behind this, especially with the flamin hot dill pickle, was that I could try chips with different concentrations of seasoning.

Electric lime and sea salt - could taste the pucker of the lime as well as a nice balance of the salt on all chips I tried.  I would definitely buy these again as I am a sucker for a good pucker.  I might also use a green goddess dip with these chips.

Flamin hot fill pickle remix - SIGHHHHHHHH.  Disappointment.  Chips were unevenly coated with the seasoning.  This was a GOOD THING as those that had less seasoning on them showed a bit more dill flavor while those that were coated were almost unbearingly, searing hot.  I notice they include sour cream in some form in the seasoning  but dang it I want dill and pickle!!!!  Even worse is that though the expiration date for the bag is 21 May 2019, about half the chips I sampled seemed stale.

Now to see if I can find the Beer Cheese ones......
