[Modernist Cuisine] How does one use the kitchen guide

Recommended Posts

The nice spiral bound kitchen guide seems great for cooking, but how on earth do you find anything in it? there is a table of contents that is not alphabetized, nor it is it organized like the 5 volumes. There is no index. I cannot find out how i'm supposed to find anything it as it is not referenced from the 5 volumes.

Somewhat annoyingly, it references recipes within the 5 volumes rather than within itself.

Any hints?

It's in the same order as in the book. But that's not a great help. We could download the index of teh kitchen manual but since they reorganized the website there is no direct link.... If you know what you're looking for you can still find it:

There is also an extra copy of the index that I find usefull. So that I don't have to always look at the end of volume 5

The errata is also available. (If you got the first edition)

But the pdf is not up to date. (April 21st 2011) The most up to date errata is march 12th 2012

Good luck

Sometimes these "old" posts are such a lifesaver. I thought I had transferred everything I needed to my new kitchen computer; woke at 3 am thinking "oh shit, my MC indexes!". Was desolate when I couldn't find the kitchen manual index on the MC website, but a Google search had this near the top of the list. Many thanks Anonymous Modernist 310.
