I will never again . . . (Part 4)

2 in one morning. Not disasters but annoying.  My plan was to make chocolate chip cookies for the guards and firemen which I do a couple times a year. When I made them last week for my son my niece helped - she portions beautifully and is better with the hot pans out of oven. Plus she could do the deliveries. Got everything lined up, butter softening, and then looked at my brown sugar container - NOPE - not enough. Put that all away and got all lined up for no-knead bread. Then looked in freezer - absolutely no room for the extra loaves. Put all that away. Just frustrating.

Thought of subbing white sugar for brown and adding a splat of molasses?  Might/probably change the texture but might work well enough to be interesting.

I’m sorry.  This AM was so delightfully cool and perfect for baking!

I think you are hotter than me. I've been in 60's all day - grateful for sure.

Yep - we had a high of 71F. It was a delightful 51F when I got up and since I’d left the windows open, my thoughts turned to baking, too!

Temperatures here were in the 60's.  I baked.  Bread came out a little strange.  It may yet end up in this thread after it's done cooling.

I can't say that I never will again...

Last night Ed made me what we call a Road's End Coffee.  And it's made in the blender.  However, apparently whoever washed and put away the blender last time...months ago I think...did not fasten the apparatus together properly and 12 ounces of hot coffee, chocolate drink mix, vodka and PJ (Panama Jack, a fortified wine which is a creme liqueur) splashed all over one end of the kitchen.  Not conducive to good times...

Then this morning there was no freshly brewed coffee.  Oh dear, the coffee pot had finally died.  Apparently not.  I forgot to put water into it.  Doesn't work well without coffee.

Of course, none of this was helped by the stupid argument we had next......

Because @Kim Shook reminded me on FB I should post this here:

I will never again run a 16-oz mug of coffee through the Keurig without putting a mug underneath the spout.

On the other hand, I now have a clean countertop.

A modest but significant percentage of my kitchen cleanup takes place under not-dissimilar circumstances.

Oh yes - it makes that lovely perfect burn circle so you look like a self-harming person.

I will never again buy an Asko oven because it will often throw an err 06 code and stop working after a power failure. This has something to do with the self-cleaning interlock and requires a repair person to come out and poke at it with a screw driver while reciting magic incantations. I'll try to watch more closely this time. It required multiple calls to the store we bought it from, to Asko, and to the repair company to get them scheduled to come out and I'm not happy about going 2 weeks without an oven because of a power glitch.

Aside from that and some stupid design of the controls, it's a nice oven and holds temperature spectacularly well.

Well, contrary to our experience last time and contrary to what Asko told us, all it took was cycling the power off for >30 seconds so things would reset. 🙄

I’m not implying anything about your skills or assuming you haven’t already tried this. But, have you tried turning off power to the oven with the breaker/fuse for a few (5 or so) minutes? Often when “they” are restoring power there are several quick on/off cycles that mess with the electronic appliance’s boards, a clean “off, wait a few, minutes, on” cycle can reset them.
