Spices...on-line suppliers?

Penzey's is certainly on the top of the list. Great service and quality with a wide selection of products. Their shipping charges are also quite reasonable.

What might be reasonable?

Penzey's website doesnt show international shipping charges. What would it cost to ship to the UK? I would have thought it would be significantly more than either Seasoned Pioneers or Spiceworld and, therefore, making it completely uneconomic to deal with them.

I also wonder if we would have any import restrictions on goods coming from outside the EU.

I'm sure you are correct. But they are in Denver Colorado. In the US of A.

Harters immediately previous post may not be plain enough ... so, to restate his point -

IT WOULD BE HELPFUL IF, WHEN SUGGESTING SUPPLIERS IN THE USA, posters in this forum area could PLEASE REMEMBER TO INCLUDE DETAILS OF SHIPPING COSTS, TO THE UK AND DETAILS OF UK CUSTOMS CHARGES, IMPORT RESTRICTIONS, ETC.

Bit late on this thread, but a shout for thespicery.com based somewhere in the west of England.

Very good for middle eastern spices. Just got some sumac, rose buds and mastic from there, plus a few other bits. Impressed with quality and value.

any place to get ancho and chipotle chili powders?

I would suggest you sign on to one of the Chile-Heads UK sites and inquire for something in your area.

Or:

You can also try the following which lists some sources:

Both these guys are long time members of the Chile-Heads mailing list, which you can get as a monthly digest -free-

If you are really into hot foods, you can ask any question that comes to mind and get pertinent answers from others who share the love of hot stuff.

isnt this more like swapping seeds?

No. If you had checked the links, there is this one:

Doesn't look like seed swapping to me.

You asked for Anchos - they list them.

They are whole, dried, easy to grind yourself.
