Chef Academy on Bravo

So Yeah, after watching this I realized that Zoe Feigenbaum looks an awful lot like one of the emotionless robots on Everyday Food on PBS. Well it turns out they have the same last names. So either they are siblings or she had a name change. What do you think?

They're sisters and I can tell you from personal experience she's a genuinely awesome person, full of personality and a great cook.

As for the show, first episode was ok but this last one jumped the shark when the French contestant was outed for being a porn star. Gee, I wonder if it had anything to do with him being chosen.

Also, it’s ridiculous they’re given the same challenges when their experience varies from barely amateur to professionals and culinary school grads.

We'll probably continue to watch but with a big potato chip on our shoulder.

That wasn't chicken

What a disappointment. I was hoping for a real show of following a group of students through a real cooking school. This is just another reality TV competition.

Favorite line from the first show as I can best remember. So you are a chef? I'm a chef on a submarine. So why's that? Uh..the Navy?

When is "chef" Novelli going to teach these guys something? And, if those desserts he did this week were his top stuff, not much of a chef, IMHO.

What WAS that about lemon pits being ok in Risotto? That was just plain gross. And she passes because she left in the pits and he passes because of that huge hunk of garlic. This is the worst. It may even be worse than - dare I say it - Sandra Lee!!

I've watches three episodes of this show and I have to say that I'm hardly impressed. I was totally befuddled as to why in the dessert episode Novelli was so put off by salt and sweet. I admit, it might have been badly done, but he acted as though salt and caramel or salt and chocolate do not go together. Is this guy for real? He's really a Michelin starred chef and he does not understand that salt and sweet go together. It has to be the editing because I can't for the life of me understand how a chef of this supposed caliber does not understand that concept.

I watched it for the first time but was in/out with other things going on. The first assignment was to make bread. The one lady who quit smoking made little cigarette rolled breads and one huge male part. The chef called her behind closed doors, and I thought he would say something to her about being inappropriate. However, he kissed the woman and said something to the effect of how great she was. I didn't see anything so great, and I don't recall him saying anything great about how it tasted -- just liked the uniqueness of the shapes I guess.
