Strawberry Cake Base

DanM

Recommended Posts

Wifey has asked me to make her a strawberry flavored cake with chocolate frosting for her birthday. I have been looking around, but cannot find a formula for the strawberry base.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Dan

I would make a butter layer cake and use good-quality strawberry preserves as the filling between the layers, frost as she wishes. Or make a fresh strawberry-whipped cream filling, add chopped chocolate to that and not frost the cake.

But I would probaby make a standard genoise and brush it with strawberry-flavoured liqueur. I'd use a whipped cream-based icing, and have strawberries in between the layers, and I'd do sliced strawberries on top. Like this
