Dusseldorf: suggestions from local places to tops?

Local: try the Düsseldorf breweries which serve Alt (the local beer, much different from Kölsch in Cologne), there are many in the Old Town (Altstadt). Also, the new harbour quarter has Robert's Bistro which I still like despite arrogant and incompetent servic. Food is good.

Best: Düsseldorf is hard to eat really excellent. Bourgueil's Schiffchen has been demoted to two stars and is still strong, but not life-changing. If you like lobster you might try Hummerstübchen (Peter Nöthel, two stars, more on the classic side). An interesting change will be at Victorian where Volker Drkosch will take over soon. He is clearly one of the most talented and progressive chefs ins Germany.

Would appreciate Dusseldorf assistance: from local places, specialty restaurants,  to  the highest quality.

Friends of mine were at Jean-Claude Bourgeuil's "Im Schiffchen" just a week or so ago and thought it was very good, but not truly great. But it's probably the best you can do in Düsseldorf.
