something I couldn't do without in my kitchen, even if I had to grow it indoors like I did when I first moved up to MD from Puerto Rico in 1998.

I also had to grow my own ajicitos dulces (sweet chili peppers) after a small grocery store sold me hot ones that looked just like them.

Yep. I see that herb from time to time in the local Asian groceries, under the names Ngò gai or Sawtooth leaf ... and once in awhile it shows up among the side plate of mix-in herbs and veggies accompanying soups in Vietnamese restaurants.

It's used a lot in Puerto Rican cooking.

Daisy Martinez, of the PBS series "Daisy Cooks!", uses it quite often in her recipes.
