Awful Drink Names

As reported on the Miami Herald website, there is evidently a drink called the Irish Car Bomb...

Made with Irish cream, whiskey and stout, the Irish Car Bomb visually ''explodes'' as the ingredients are combined.

Well, noting the wonderfully bad taste of Miami's beloved Herald, another online blogger (our own Miami Danny) took them to task, and came up with a few choice drink names of his own, which you can see here.

In an homage to the 'Car Bomb', the whimsically-named Irish cocktail that the wacky Miami Herald editors supposed was a great idea to promote for St. Patrick's Day.

I'd like to add a few 'Holiday Cocktails' of my own, which also commemorate the loss of life and limb of innocents; not just in Ireland, but across the globe. Here are the holidays and the drinks that make bloody death such a hoot!

Yeah, i've already been "familiar" with that name for a while (I've actually never seen one in person). I believe the idea is that you have to chug it before the ingredients... ermm... coagulate. ewwwww....

What about the 'Cowboy Cocksucker,' bowdlerized as a 'cement mixer?'

One shot of lime juice and a seperate shot of bailey's are placed in the mouth and the head shaken. It curdles pretty well. More of a prank than a drink really.

Car bombs are delicious and fun.

You people are stick in the muds.

As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans. - Ernest Hemingway, in A Moveable Feast

I've heard of this (with the latter name) as well. In the name of science, I tried it on myself some time ago. I thought "hey, this tastes great!" until the texture hit me and my tongue refused to participate in swallowing.

As such, seems its use is limited to prank.

I was a big fan of Irish Car Bombs, myself. It was a great way to get the party started, and they do taste like something creamy and somewhat chocolatey, when done right. I can't drink them anymore, though, because once I tried to do it with a plastic shot glass. The shotglass didn't sink, and wound up bobbing and smacking me in the nose for the duration of the chug. Gag-city. Haven't had one since.
