What about Antarctica? They divide it into 9 regions. I guess this means there are 9 separate and unique Antarctician cuisines...

Why ANYBODY would have as a life goal to have sex in some filthy, malodorous airplane toilet the size of a phone booth just boggles my mind. Join the "mile-high" club the easy way: drive to Denver and have sex in a hotel room! (Food's better in Denver, too.)

I have only visited twelve regions on the list. And as far as eating seriously in them: only one, the US.

How about a more interesting question, mostly for our US posters: how many STATES have you eaten SERIOUSLY in? (Count Puerto Rico as one, and the US Virgin Islands, and DC.)

Minnesota

Missouri

Oh, that's a good one, Deacon. I have only spent a few years in the States, but in addition to New York I have eaten "seriously"* in:

Louisiana

South Carolina

Washington

California

Illinois

Minnesota

I don't think having a couple of good dinners counts as eating seriously, but if it did, I would add Washington DC, Philadelphia, Kansas, Texas and Georgia.

Hmmm, I have a lot of catching up to do. :hmmm:

* "seriously" = have eaten at least one gourmet meal in the state. Attempts to get the "regional" or "local" flavor of the state also count. What I wouldn't count is a meal in an airport coffee shop while waiting for a plane, or a meal at some national chain by the side of the highway, or something similar. :smile:

Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, St. Thomas (does this count?), Anguilla, Guadeloupe, Martinique, St. Lucia, Barbados, St. Maarten (I can't count this as two, sorry), St. Barts, Dominica.

England, Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar, Holland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Russia, Estonia (or wherever Tallin is), Germany and Denmark.

I am only missing all of South America, all of Asia, all of Africa, all of the Pacific Islands, Australia and Antartica. That's all. :huh:

Uh - Mark, what's a region? I'm familiar with towns within a county, but can't quite figure out what a region is. :wacko:

Well, Middletown is a region. Can't point to any real town to speak of. Same with Ocean Township, Tinton Falls, West Long Branch, Rumson, Elberon, Scobeyville Reeveytown, etc.

Now Red Bank, there's a town! And Freehold, Long Branch Asbury park... :wink:

and i love it. i traveled outside the US for the first time in 1994 and since then have been spending all my savings and using all my vacation time to add countries to my list. eating & traveling are the loves of my life:

Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Panama, Ecuador, UK, Ireland, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Italy, Egypt.

I think it totals 78 or so. I don't consider myself a "tourist" and see little sense in the Century Club and even if I had 200, would not consider joining such a club. I hadn't really thought about it until I read this posting. Would not consider a cruise except one or two (I did one to Alaska and would consider one in Norway).

Interesting to think of the best and worst meals - had some very bad ones and some absolutely wonderful ones as well. Worst - Senegal - some form of rodent stewed with a very strong taste and many small bones.

Too many to mention wonderful ones.

Odd club but great scam. Initiation fee of $100 + $40 annual fee. What do you get once you've paid to join? Nothing, it appears, other than a membership card. I'm once again reminded that I may be in the wrong business.

That said, I could not resist. Thanks to 4 years in the Air Force, many years of international business travel, and an ongoing quest for something new and different have qualified - 103. No wonder Im so tired.

Think I'll save the money for something else.
