Raiding the Icebox...

I would confess I don't like cold things straight from the fridge, well except for salads and cerviches.

But hubby on the other hand, est the following cold, stright from the refreigerator:

Fried Chicken (he makes a lot so he knows he will have leftovers)

Pork chops

Sausage gravy

Spaghetti sauce (slathered in two pieces of bread and then eaten as a sandwich)

My father on the other hand loves lugaw (Filipino jook) cold.

Roasted veggies of any kind (but squash, particularly) are a favorite of mine. Like everyone else, I love cold chicken.

But ever since I was a child I've very much enjoyed a teacupful of still-frozen peas, eaten one at a time and rolled around in my mouth a few times before being bitten.

My boyfriend loves those huge "blooming onion" things cold out of the fridge. Blegh.

One question.  When I approach the refrigerator unable or unwilling to heat something up for 30 seconds, there's usually a reason.  What's your reason?

The after Thanksgiving trifecta - cold turkey, cold stuffing, cold pumpkin pie. (I'll try the mashed potatoes, that will be just one of the good ideas I get here.) Also, cold spaghetti and meatballs, often just the pot of meatballs and gravy. Well, not the whole pot. At least, not at one standing.

For me just about any leftover is fair game to be eaten cold from the fridge. Soups, stews, meats, pasta....Not a fan of cold long grain rice and mashed or fried potatoes are not high on the list.

Cold fried or roasted chicken, ham, turkey and turkey dressing, meatloaf, pizza, lasagne.

I especially like cold fried chicken with a piece of REAL pound cake.

Then there's one of my favorite sandwiches: cold meatloaf thinly sliced on a nice rye bread with thinly sliced onions and a blob of ketchup!

Sate or teriyaki strips, right out of the fridge, just like candy.

When I was a kid and our family was going to the beach, my mom would make oven "fried" chicken the night before so we'd have cold chicken for our beach picnic.

Amen to the cold meatloaf sandwich, except we'd slather it with mayo and horseradish sauce. It doubles as a sinus clearer, too.
