We are traveling from Chicago to Harbor Country, specifically New Buffalo, next weekend. SW Michigan seems a popular weekend destination for many, but there's little to no discussion of where to eat. We will be in New Buffalo next weekend, but intend to take more trips in the future, exploring the area. Suggestions for eating, drinking, and food related shopping from the IL border to Saugatuck are appreciated. If you have a cabin, inn or b&b rec, I'd love to hear that, too, though slightly off topic.

We are traveling from Chicago to Harbor Country, specifically New Buffalo, next weekend.  SW Michigan seems a popular weekend destination for many, but there's little to no discussion of where to eat.  We will be in New Buffalo next weekend, but intend to take more trips in the future, exploring the area.  Suggestions for eating, drinking, and food related shopping from the IL border to Saugatuck are appreciated.  If you have a cabin, inn or b&b rec, I'd love to hear that, too, though slightly off topic.

Naftal, I have been to that site. I searched eGullet, Chowhound (posts out of date) and the tourist sites related to New Buffalo and Harbor Country. It's hard to find anything other than a directory. Did not think to check LTHforum. Duh. Thanks for the links Alex.

You're welcome. However, the posts on my Chowhound link are all from the past four months, including a moderately detailed report about Everyday People and Journeyman on July 31. You must not have found that one in your search.

Yes, of course. I was referring to posts re: New Buffalo, which is where we are staying this weekend. Those areas are farther than we are going this weekend, but are definitely useful for future reference.

There is an eGulleteer who posts in the Restaurant Life forum who has a restaurant in New Buffalo - I don't know the name of the restaurant but I've always wondered since we drive through the area frequently. The poster's name is Old Timer.
