I was wondering if there was a way to make my own cookie cutters.

I would like to make a cookie cutter that resembles this Game character called a "cactuar" : it's basically a monster in the shape of a cactus.

Is there a kind of special material I have to use to make cookie cutters,or is my hope of making Cactuar shaped cookies shattered?

I'm not sure how to go about making your own cookie cutters but perhaps you could cut the cookies individually (freehand) or get a cactus cookie cutter such as these and tweak them to look like the character? Looks like a fun project.

Tin or copper are the easiest to work with.

But check out Foose Tinsmith. They make and sell interesting cookie cutters, and will do custom designs for a really fair price.

They've been featured on John Ratzenburger's Made in America.

I wonder if they accept money order.I sadly cannot buy off of the internet usualy because I don't have a credit card.

I'll bet they would take a money order. Why not email them and ask.

Hardware stores, or even hobby/craft shops would have copper.

What a cool looking character!

I've seen cookie recipes that instruct you to cut a shape out of cardboard and use it as a stencil. I've never done it, but I tend to have so much trouble with cookie cutters (especially something with arms and legs like the cactuar) that the idea of just cutting around a stencil with a sharp knife is appealing.

I emailed them and I hope they accept money orders,or else I doubt i'll be able to buy from them.

For the copper,they are building a craft/hobby store close to my house,maybe they'll have some!

The stencil idea isn't a bad idea too! it seems fairly simple,but won't the cardboard "die" after a while?

also.. on a side note,what kind of icing do I use on cookies? The good old colored milk and powdered sugar liquidy one?

Royal Icing would probably work best.

thank you very much ^^ I actually made a stencil made out of waxed card board. it's the shape of cactuar and I will bake cookies shaped like a cactuar and ask my mother to snap pictures of them!

I'm quite proud of my stencil even if it's just cardboard ^^ So tonight I will try to have the pictures uploaded!

Although I know they're cactus, the shade of green made me think "pickle"!

they taste really good ^^ I added lemon zest to the dough and it has that nice lemony flavor to them

they're delicious,I hope the people from my anime club will like them!

they do have the shade of a pickle a bit

For custom cutters, I have been ordering from a woman in Canada thru Etsy. She uses a 3D printer and can make pretty much anything she can copy or create on the computer. Her shop name is 3DKamotion. There are a lot of people on there that makes them, but she's very fair in her pricing. 

There is a company and I can't think of their name, that will make custom copper cutters. I had a tri-ryche made (Queensryche's band logo) years ago. A little more pricey though.
