  1. No. Garland stopped its consumer line many years ago.
  2. Thank you, but I was in no way offended. Yale is where I bought my POS Garland (not Viking). I will never pay more than $1,000 for another range, if that.
  3. “Sometimes it is the arrow that can make a better Indian. And that statement sounds somewhat wrong, these days.” Oh, I am just so sorry. I meant to say Native American, but to me it’s synonymous.
  4. Well, consider yourself very lucky.
  5. I am tired of repairing my “high end” POS stove and won’t buy another expensive one again. Does everyone here cook only on $2,000 plus ranges?
  6. Hmm. Not electric. I’ve never used induction, but I’m open to it.
  7. So, can anyone make further suggestions for a stove?
  8. Oops. So it is. Can a slide in and stand alone be used interchangeably?
  9. After years of cleaning my stove I’ll be glad to risk sealed burners.
  10. Can you please give me the model number or name?
  11. Wow! Looks and sounds very good. Thanks.
  12. I would be very surprised if quality control was significantly higher for ranges of $2,000 and more. Unless something is handmade by one or two skilled craftsmen or craftswomen, quality can be a toss up. I thought this would be a good place to ask. Although it sounds like most here have very high end stuff, I believe strongly that with cooking and most other things, it’s not the arrow, it’s the Indian.
  13. I also love the Trader Joe’s North Coast Brut, both rose and white crazy deal at $10.
  14. I know it sounds impossible, but not absolutely everything is on Google.
  15. When I bought it my Blue Star (not Viking, sorry) the company had recently taken over the consumer line from Viking. At least that’s how it was explained to me.
  16. Of these, is any better made than another? Or are they all cheap junk?
  17. I’m never buying anything from Blue Star, formerly Viking. Mine is an overpriced, poorly designed piece of something. Must be under $1,000.
  18. My old Viking keeps breaking and I want to replace it. But definitely not with a super high end, expensive range. Can anyone please recommend a good 30 inch range with at least one very hot burner and not too much electronic gadgetry for less than $1,000? Reliability is paramount. Thanks very much.
  19. Not sure how, but I’m very glad to have found this site. I very much enjoy cooking and care a lot about what I eat (most of the time). I think a great burger can be as stellar as haute cuisine and that tuna sashimi is often disappointing. I was a journalist/editor for about 20 years, the last 10 or so freelancing about wine, spirits and restaurants. Freelance gigs got very slim and I now deliver joy and happiness for FedEx Express. The paycheck comes on time every week and I don’t worry that my electricity will be turned off.
