Apparently the writer doesn't own an OXO Garlic Press. (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) They come with a red-colored cleaner on the handle so the press is very easy to clean. But we're still talking about the article so I guess the article worked as intended.

That would be the Cutco meat knife, at least according to my mom. Notice the curve as it goes up to the tip of the knife. She'd use that knife for cutting up her round steak or whacking a chicken into parts. Here's a photo showing most of what was in her Cutco set: Not shown is the small paring knife that came with the set. The Cutco Chef's knife is almost straight...the middle knife next to the first fork. We'd buy my mom newer, better knives but she said she liked using the Cutco' because the handles felt better in her arthritic hands.

The edges, perhaps. But it should be snuggly safe under the bed of salt.

Well, that is the selfless purpose of parchment; It's meant to be used once and then disposed of. To give its life for your baked potato on a bed of salt is a noble purpose indeed.

My mom had a set of Cutco's with a slotted holder for all of the knives. She nailed the holder to the kitchen wall over the prep area. One of the knives was a Chef's knife. I know because a friend gifted me a cooking school "Knife skills" class and I didn't own a chef's knife at the time. So I borrowed my mom's Cutco Chef's Knife. The same friend gifted me a set of Forschner knives soon after.

With regard to baked potatoes, my mom always rubbed her pierced baking potatoes with Crisco. She said she liked a crisp skin on her baked potato and now, having grown up and moved away, we "kids" do the same to our baking potatoes. I can see how you would think oil would keep the skin soft but it's the high heat on those fat-covered potato skins that makes the crispy skin happen.

When is a recall not a recall? When they know there's a problem but haven't nailed down the specifics as to who's selling the bad products whatever they may be. They do mention the US State of Minnesota where the illness cases have been occurring: "FSIS Issues Public Health Alert for Frozen Raw Breaded Stuffed Chicken Products Due to Possible Salmonella Contamination"

So I happened to stop at a Wendy's and ordered their Lemonade. They currently have a promotion featuring different kinds of Lemonade flavor combos for a slightly higher price than just their regular Lemonade. I tried the Strawberry Lemonade flavor and it was not very good. It tasted like liquid candy with an "off" flavor. However, when I ordered their regular Lemonade, I was surprised at how good it was. It had a "made-with-real-lemons" finish to it (I have no idea if it is made with real lemons or if it's totally artificial). I know other fast food restaurants (like "Raising Cane's" Chicken Fingers) serve supposedly real lemonade but, again I was impressed with Wendy's offering. Anyone else care to chime in? What do you think of Wendy's Lemonade?

One bad thing was that the Chews aren't even real marshmallow. What a waste of a sugar rush. The maker, the same company that makes Tootsie Rolls (and their fake chocolate ), describes the filling as "marshmallow-like taffy". Puh-leeze. And I love Milk Duds...but am too scared of of eating them and loosing my dental work in the process.

Do you have any Del Tacos near you? Their French fries are crinkle cut. As for your local Arby's not having the crinkle cut fries, I would recommend locating their corporate office online and being the proverbial squeaky wheel to let them know your local Arby's seems to be behind the times when it comes to offering the crinkle cut fries. Rat them out, i say!

Thanks but the potato cakes/triangles (seen in the article) are a lot thicker than McD's hash browns. At home when I would fry them up in a pan I'd get a nice crusty exterior with a soft interior. Like a tater tot but more of it.

Now this is interesting... "Popeyes Just Released a New Chicken Sandwich" The photo of the sandwich looks good. And what spices are in the rub? If anyone sees it at your local Popeye's, please take one for the team.
