  1. I have a friend who, when she was getting her kitchen remodeled, chose a microwave deep enough for a 9x13 casserole dish to rotate on the carousal without hitting the sides. Color me impressed! Yes, she uses the microwave often for cooking. The one drawback was that the digital interface got fried during a thunder storm and finding a replacement part wasn't easy or cheap.
  2. From BookBub...not a cookbook but a memoir: "As Always, Julia: The Letters of Julia Child & Avis DeVoto" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.
  3. "Tyson Foods Inc. Recalls Ready-To-Eat Chicken Products Due to Possible Listeria Contamination" See the article for links to product listing and label views.
  4. "Pati Jinich Treasures of the Mexican Table: Classic Recipes, Local Secrets" Kindle Edition (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) November 2nd
  5. yes, this. That's kind of how I know if a cookbook has been posted before in this discussion...I get a notice from Amazon that I've purchased it before. For example, the Jose Andres veggie cookbook was originally posted here (on sale) back in November of last year. But I like how they cycle through and drop down to sale-price every once in a while. For example, Jacques Pepin's "Poulets & Légumes: My Favorite Chicken and Vegetable Recipes" Kindle Edition $2.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) is back on sale again now.

    Wendy's USA

A quick clarification... I discovered last night that Wendy's sells two kinds of Lemonade. One is Minute Maid Lemonade which likely comes from a syrup/soda fountain. The other Lemonade is called "Natural Lemonade" and is the one I described in my above post. It has a fresh just-made taste and is the one I recommend from Wendy's. It's quite hot here and last night the Natural Lemonade hit the right spot.
  7. "Avanti Frozen Foods Recalls Frozen Cooked Shrimp Because of Possible Health Risk" See the linked-to article for product specifics.
  8. Some finds from BookBub and and just plain stumbling across them on Amazon... This first is slightly more expensive... From the reboot of Queer Eye, Antoni Porowski's "Antoni in the Kitchen" Kindle Edition $3.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll down to see the first chapter's list of recipe. Scroll further down to see a couple of recipes. Well Reviewed. Imperial measurements. From the Editors of Saveur, "Saveur: Italian Comfort Food" Kindle Edition $2.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) There's a recipe for "Farro Salad with Fava Beans & Radicchio" on this cookbook's Amazon info page. Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll up to the top to see the list of recipes. Scroll down to see recipes. Measurements are Imperial. I'm beginning to think Williams-Sonoma is pulling an "ATK" move and outputting cullings from previous cookbooks. Suddenly, they're prolific: "Salad of the Day: 365 Recipes for Every Day of the Year (Williams-Sonoma)" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) There's a recipe for "Israeli Couscous With Celery & Sun-Dried Tomatoes" on this cookbook's Amazon info page. Imperial and Metric measurements. Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll down to see the first chapter's list of recipe. Scroll further down to see recipes. "Dessert of the Day: 365 Recipes for Every Day of the Year (Williams-Sonoma)" Kindle Edition $2.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll down to see recipes (you may have to zoom in). Measurements are Imperial and Metric. "The Art of Preserving (Williams-Sonoma)" Kindle Edition $2.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll down to see the list of recipes (you may need to zoom in to read the list). "Dish of the Day: 365 Favorite Recipes for Every Day of the Year" Kindle Edition $2.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) It's a Williams-Sonoma cookbook. There's a recipe for "CHICKEN WITH CILANTRO & PUMPKIN SEED PESTO" on this cookbook's Amazon info page. The info on this page says it's a compilation of recipes so they have been previously published. Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll down to see the list of recipes from the first chapter, then scroll down to see recipes. Measurements are Imperial and Metric. I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.
  9. Uhm...First World problems. Regarding "...You’d strike the bottom until, eventually, a huge blob would splurt out, ruining your plate." If a blob of ketchup ruined your plate, I'd say you have bigger issues than a "ruined" plate. If someone has as issue with the amount of ketchup that comes out, why put it on your plate? Lots of cuisines use dipping bowls for condiments. Squirt as much or as little that you want into the dipping bowl...what does it matter how much comes out when you squirt it then? Your plate or your food won't be "ruined". Someone got paid to write that faux article about a made-up problem? Puh-leeze.
  10. Lidia Matticchio Bastianich's "Lidia's a Pot, a Pan, and a Bowl: Simple Recipes for Perfect Meals" Kindle Edition (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) October 19th
  11. Just found these and thought I would post it ASAP. I don't expect the Julia Child title (was just on sale back in May) to stay sale-priced for very long. Julia Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking, Volume 1: A Cookbook" Kindle Edition $2.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) From the mid-90's, Brit Simon Hopkinson's "Roast Chicken and Other Stories" Kindle Edition $2.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll to the top to see the list of recipes. Scroll down to see recipes. Oddly, measurements seem to be Imperial. I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.
  12. From this morning's BookBub email: "Cooking with Mary Berry: Classic Dishes and Baking Favorites Made Simple" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll up to the very top to see the list of recipes. There are a lot Great British Baking Show cookbooks on sale, as well. I am a US Prime member and the price you see mat vary.
  13. Got an SD Card for my Fire Tablet to back up the excess cookbooks I have downloaded into it. Price was 25% off. CamelCamelCamel has been invaluable to me. I look something over on Amazon and then check the price history on Camel only to see the posted "sale" price isn't the best price. Saved me money a number of times...
  14. Others do this, as well. I believe even Ina Garten has admitted she puts a roast chicken recipe in all of her cookbooks that's basically the same from cookbook to cookbook. Not as bad as the culling and repeating ATK does, but still...
  15. America's Test Kitchen's "The Complete Autumn and Winter Cookbook: 550+ Recipes for Warming Dinners, Holiday Roasts, Seasonal Desserts, Breads, Foo d Gifts, and More (The Complete ATK Cookbook Series)" Kindle Edition (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) September 21 Edited to add another ATK book: America's Test Kitchen's "One-Hour Comfort: Quick, Cozy, Modern Dishes for All Your Cravings" Kindle Edition (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) September 7
  16. Two sort-of related cookbooks coming... America's Test Kitchen's "The New Cooking School Cookbook: Fundamentals" Kindle Edition (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Nov. 2nd Christopher Kimball's "Milk Street Vegetables: 250 Bold, Simple Recipes for Every Season" Kindle Edition (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Oct. 12th
  17. Two food-related memoirs (not cookbooks!): Ruth Reichl's "Save Me the Plums: My Gourmet Memoir" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Ella Brennan's "Miss Ella of Commander's Palace" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.
  18. Yes, they are quite crumbly. I don't know if you noticed but the usual paper cup that holds the cookies was replaced by a firmer plastic rectangle in the Butter Pecan bag. The top plastic cup did little to prevent the cookies in it from breaking/crumbling, but the cookies in the bottom plastic cup were all intact in the bag I purchased.
  19. I recently made a small purchase on Amazon that must have been from a small business. Amazon sent me an email that because I patronized this small business I received a $10 credit to use on the Prime Day Sale. You had to follow their instructions to get the $10 applied to your account but it was quick and painless. I was likely to purchase something on Prime Day anyway. It makes me wonder how many people got similar credits...
  20. Two found this afternoon, both slightly more expensive... From James Beard Foundation Hall of Fame member Maida Heatter: Maida Heatter's "Chocolate Is Forever: Classic Cakes, Cookies, Pastries, Pies, Puddings, Candies, Confections, and More" Kindle Edition $3.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Maida Heatter's "Cookies Are Magic: Classic Cookies, Brownies, Bars, and More" Kindle Edition $3.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Measurements are Imperial. Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll down to see the first chapter's recipe listing, then scroll a little more to see a couple recipes. I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.
  21. I found them at my local Walmart Neighborhood Grocery Store. They had a lot in stock. They are 30 cents more expensive than their regular cookies (the new Irish Cream Milanos also cost 30 cents more than the regular Milanos). These Butter Pecans are very good. Very crispy and tasting of butter. I'd say it was more of a "pecan sandie" cookie than a Butter Pecan cookie since the Pecan wasn't very noticeable or evident. The pecan chunks aren't very large. I guess Pepperidge Farms had to save money somewhere. One side effect..my fingers smelled of butter afterwards and it was a good thing.
  22. Just finished a small snack bag of Boulder Canyon Kettle Potato Chips, Malt Vinegar & Sea Salt flavor (click). At first I was disappointed in the vinegar because the chips didn't have that "In-Your-Face" acidic tart tang. But the more I ate them, I was impressed with the Malt Vinegar flavor. It seemed to have more depth to it than just acid in the regular Vinegar and Salt chips. Very nice, crunchy yet with subtle flavor.

    Dinner 2021

Funny you should mention that. I went grocery shopping this weekend and in the same aisle at one end was Asian food products which included bottles of Fry Sauce. Then at the other end of the aisle was condiments and there was Heinz's Mayochup. They all looked identical. I believe you (and Google) hit the proverbial nail on the head.

    Dinner 2021

Yep. In the Fry Sauce, the Thousand Island Dressing has no pickle relish. It's just the tan-colored creamy sauce.
  25. Another Pepin cookbook found this afternoon: Slightly more expensive... "Jacques Pépin Quick & Simple" Kindle Edition $3.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) There's a recipe for "Raspberry Gratin from JACQUES PÉPIN QUICK & SIMPLE" on this cookbook's Amazon info page. Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll down to see chapter recipe listings and then recipes. From Jocelyn Delk Adams, founder of the blog "Grandbaby Cakes", "Grandbaby Cakes: Modern Recipes, Vintage Charm, Soulful Memories" Kindle Edition $2.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.
