We had a tasting menu recently & were in heaven. We asked Chef Zod to cook whatever he wanted and we all left the restaurant with big smiles on our faces. Had a mushroom risotto made with tapioca topped with a poached egg which was sublime. Also, had veal, fish, lamb and a few desserts. There were many courses and all of them were excellent. A few pictures are here: http://forums.egullet.org/index.php?act=mo...lbum&album=4167

We were there on Friday and going again tonight. The marinated salmon app and the fig dessert are not to be missed.

Ditto on Copeland—always excellent. Guerriero’s is a typical neighborhood Italian restaurant; BYO. There is an excellent liquor store next door to Guerriero’s that specializes in Argentine wines. I like Nagano for sushi. Didn’t care for Origin, Morristown but love the one in Somerville. Haven’t been to Settebello in a long time but it was always reliable and will actually be trying it again soon; BYO. Recently had an excellent lunch in the Hyatt and the bar there is beautiful. Tim Schafer is no longer at Tim Schafer’s Cuisine but the buzz is that the food is still very good (BYO). There will be some new restaurants opening in December. 7. "except for the dearth of senior citizens who literally turned a corner and got confused." Ahem!! That was me and Lowell. I was disappointed that they didn't have kosher meat. I like kosher chicken and turkey. Otherwise beside leaving my mortgage money there I was very impressed with the store.
  8. Yes. Jonathan worked at Egg Farm Dairy and YES his cheeses are fantastic. We used to have an eGullet pot luck picnic there and many of us went home with memorable cheeses and breads as well as full stomachs!
  9. All I heard is that they closed because business was not good and they weren't making money. The space is for rent.
  10. Bobolink is selling: grass fed beef and cheese from the milk of grass fed cows. They have a website at: www.cowsoutside.com

    Blu

We had an outstanding dinner at Blu last night. If hake is on the menu it is a must try. Also loved the mushroom/onion panna cotta.
  13. They were listed as closed here in July. http://www.njmonthly.com/rosie/openclose.html

  17. According to the rules for the Readers Choice Poll--"Restaurants assisting in the submission of poll ballots and restaurants distributing ballots or magazines containing them will be disqualified. New Jersey Monthly reserves the right to reject ballots that appear to have been submitted improperly." An outside auditing firm is used to ensure that all votes are counted and treated fairly. The auditing team also inspects the ballots for signs of ballot stuffing and other fraud. I've always enjoyed the food at The Park Steakhouse and if it was closer to my home I would dine there more often.

  20. Basilico, Millburn BYO Highlawn Pavilion, West Orange Frog and the Peach, New Brunswick
  21. They opened a few weeks ago. Listing here: http://www.njmonthly.com/rosie/openclose.html Food was good but no different than any other Italian neighborhood restaurant. Didn't care for the sangria as it was all ice. Other downside is that it is not BYO.
  22. August issue with the results of the Readers' Choice Poll p 61.
  23. Blu is one of the best restaurants in NJ and received an Excellent from David Corcoran in the NJ section of the NY Times a few months ago.
