  1. I was doing a little reading and it was suggested that you could soak pasta for a couple of hours and then pop it into boiling water for a couple of minutes and presto done! This is regular dried pasta not fresh or ramen. The reasoning was that pasta requires two steps, hydrating and cooking, the hydrating needs the most time and cooking the least.

Has anyone heard of this, tried it? What were your reactions?

  2. I recently made tomato/basil bread in my breadmaker and basically you just replace the water with tomato juice - I would think you could do the same with a rice cooker because the ingredients really don't interact with the innards.

  3. As a singleton the ability to make just a 1/2 cup is perfect for me (it will also handle larger quantities). I have the Zojirushi induction model and it makes perfect rice every time. Adding some frozen vegies also turns out well. I usually use basmati but Jasmin is also in my cupboard.

  4. I had one hooked up with plastic tubing - lasted 6 years with nary a problem until the mechanical part of the icemaker gave out - I don't think the plumbing would be covered by a maintenance contract as it's external to the fridge

I own two of these Smart Ovens, and both developed the identical problem in that the Power Button has become semi-functional, and doesn't always turn the machine off reliably. The button will beep as if its off, but it stays on. Anybody else have this? Has me concerned about safety that it remains on even after I've turned it off.

    What does the display indicate?

No, I'm planning to get an APO eventually anyway, as I am not one of those who has backup CSOs in the garage. I'm simply wondering if there's anything an air fryer can do that my CSO currently, or my future APO, can't do just as well.

Quick, easy cleanup, small quantity - I use mine mainly for frozen foods - fries, burgers, breaded fish portions - not a "cooker" per se but rather a faster more efficient alternative to frozen goods that suggest 20 minutes @ 400 - there's no pre-heat needed and I find because of the confined space less time required. Also gives nice browning on roasted vegetables frozen or fresh.
