I wonder if this could be used indoors as an electric grill without the "smoking" effect, i.e. no pellets?

to discover that what we are talking about is a souped up countertop convection oven.
Let the reader beware! In which case they should be compared to the CSO or BSOA or APO and their ilk

My prescription: take it with grain of salt
Oh! Wait! That's probably bad for you too!
I say this in jest, not to belittle other's health concerns

On Amazon the most common negative comment for the Breville All in One is that the potato masher blade breaks - anyone had that happen?

I would love to be able to cut paper thin slices of chorizo and other sausages on the little Breville.
I use my mandoline

Whoa!
I guess you're not signed up to be writing customer reviews
Tough luck or inherent flaws?

The tank is all cracked, not to my surprise.
Get a new one (see above - hopefully yours will take less than 4 months to arrive)

But if your fish is frozen and your batter isn't, you're going to run into problems.
I don't think frozen batter would help

What about thawing, battering then refreezing?

Breville designs their products in Australia, has them manufactured in China, then sells them worldwide. Their products are generally expensive, but I've found them to be innovative and well made.

Don't ask me to list all my Breville appliances 🙂

But I'm looking cookware more fast heating and use little energy as well, to make cooking more easy.
Aluminum is used extensively in commercial kitchens because of its fast heating and quick response - it has numerous drawbacks but they are tradeoffs - if you want quote "fast heating and use little energy" then that's the route to go and they are relatively inexpensive

My take:
- definitely work more efficiently with gas because of the vanes which provide a more receptive and in turn more dispersive environment for the gas heat
- however as electric stoves use conductive heat a reduction in the contact area makes it less efficient than if they had a flat bottom
- induction? the jury is out but I would guess the same logic as electric stoves would apply
My take is always susceptible to corrections and outright denials

@Darienne - which model did you get - I hope it wasn't the Actifry, which I've heard mashes rather than stirs

Anova may be acting proactively regarding tank issues - I contacted support regarding getting a shield and gasket for mine (no cracking yet) - their reply:
Thanks for reaching out to ANOVA Support! I can certainly add you to the waitlist for our tank covers. I will make sure to add a new tank with the tank cover so that you'll have a new water tank assembly when it's available.
Nice to know, but no idea when I might expect it.

Way back when (May 27) I posted about requesting a new tank and shield, well it arrived and looks nice - I haven't installed it yet as I've been otherwise busy

I have never used the supplied air fry rack. Instead I use one of those “copper” crisper basket/tray combos and the oven stays very clean.
If it's not the drip, it's the splatter

18 amp circuit? That's a really oddball number, usually you have 15 amp, 20 amp (std for kitchen) or 30 amp maybe
I prefer a "white white" (6000k) as opposed to warm white (3000k) as far as color goes, it appears brighter
