  1. I can't believe how intricate all of the baked goods on here look. I'm sure you'll say it isn't as hard as it looks but it still must take some time and patients. Great Job!
  2. I second everyone else, I love those sheep and that is a great take on 'Chantilly Lace'.
  3. Me too! My husband loves figs and I may try that for him.
  4. Ohh, thanks I thought that whole thing was put together.
  5. The pan thing that the food is on. It doesn't look like a cutting board to me. Or maybe I'm looking at it wrong.
  6. Wow, I'm new and I just scrolled through a bunch of this forum and you guys are really, really, talented. Here are a few pics of some stuff I've worked on. I'm pretty proud of the Gears of War cake since it was my first attempt at using fondant. My rosette cake ended up melting by the time I got to my destination, guess it was to warm. The Chololate cupcakes had stout beer in the batter, Jack Daniels in the filling, and irish liquor in the frosting.
  7. Forgive my ignorance (learning foodie here) but what is that tool I see in this post? I don't think I've seen it before. Thanks!

    Cider

I live in Massachusetts and I really love Harpoon's Apple Cider. I like it like a dessert drink though, since it is fruity and sweet.
  9. Personally I like to put finely chopped nuts in my banana bread. My husband thinks otherwise. Says that he wants his banana bread to be smooth, the nuts just ruin that texture for him.
  10. My taste have matured a lot since I was a kid. My mom had a jar of 'Little Debbies" around all the time. Plus we constantly ate fast food and sodas, things like that. I guess it makes since now looking back, that I used to all ways eat a salad when we went out to eat. I guess I was done with the bad food at home. Now that I'm older I next to never eat fast food. My home cook staples are chicken or pork with panko. Or sausage with steamed peppers and onions. Or my favorite thing to make, chicken pot pie. Never really go for the salads anymore though, and we definitly don't get soda, instead I drink seltzer water. I feel when I get a little more money in the bank I'll get into the high end cheeses (hopefully some of you guys can steer me in the right directions), and I'll get some new toys to play with in the kitchen.
  11. Never heard of doing this but I will try it the next time I get some rhubarb. I just joined and I enjoyed flipping through this forum. I look forward to seeing more.
  12. I created a new facebook page for my business because I didn't want to mix my social account and my business account. So I didn't want to use my real name on that one. I also couldn't put .com on the name so foodfacts dotcom is what came out. I think I'll try to change it again when the 60 days have passed.
  13. Not sure about Maine. I do live an hour away from there but I do my picking at Parlee Farms. I assume Maine has the same kind of farms as Parlee. I had a lot of fun picking this season and even cooked a bunch of recipes for my blog. I kinda didn't have a choice because we picked 4lbs of them. I gotta say that having to ware radios to scare away bears so you can pick berries sounds like the most awesome berry picking story ever. I'm pretty sure that even though Maine exports all blueberries out of the country, the country itself eats as locally as we can. My real name is Dusty Santos btw. I joined another food forum and this one has made me feel much more welcome! Thanks!
  14. Interesting you should mention that because I did do some research about blueberries recently and I found out that Maine exports 100% of the blueberries from the U.S.! Over 600 tons worth of them.
  15. Hello, my name is Dusty Santos. I do have a food blog but I'm not here to get followers. Instead I want to learn and gain inspiration from many of you who have been doing this stuff a lot longer than I have. I believe if my blog is good enough and if I'm doing it right I should be able to get readers without begging for it. For now however, a little about myself. I'm married and I have a 2 year old daughter named Kairi. She is very energetic and clingy and I love her with all of my heart. I'll be 31 next month, August 20th to be exact and I'm wondering at what age can I start lying about my age? Before my blogging days I went to school for computer animation and special effects. (Pixar type stuff) That industry is plagued with corruption and appreciation (just google 'Rhythm & Hues Documentary' if you don't believe me) so I left it for food. I rambled on enough, the point is, I'm happy to meet all of you!
