When you don't properly place a scale on floor you get different weight. Because due to incline of decline of scale surface there must be a difference in weight so you must adjust your scale properly on floor to get accurate measurement.

Why not you use any hanging scales because these scales are cheap and have enough capacity that you can weight herbs, spices and other small measurement. I have bought one in $10 which help me in getting small measurement at supermarkets.
