I live in a chinese food wasteland known as South Carolina. Next week, however, I will be in Montreal -- staying at the Intercontinental in the Old City. I crave authentic chinese cuisine, especially dishes of Szechuan or Fukien. I will be most appreciative of any recommendations by natives or frequent travelers as this is my initial trip to French Canada. I have read about L'Orchidee de Chine. Any comments?

Unfortunately, it's not that close to I-85. It's located at 240 Wade Hampton Blvd. Greenville 29606. Mapquest can help you navigate. As for recommendations along I-95, I really can't help you. Just fast food joints as far as I know. Been to Hilton Head several times and wasn't impressed with any of the restaurants I visited. Charleston, on the other hand, has some outstanding restaurants.

By far, the best BBQ in Upstate SC has to be "Henry's." The Q is succulent. Sauces, whether hot or mild are delicious. Best price I've come across also. 1lb. cost only $8.50. Definitely a bargain. Kathy
