  1. While I am a major foodie, I cannot imagine traveling to distant places just for the food. I love to eat and love trying new foods and would certainly do that while I am visiting a different country but to go there just to eat blows me away. That is truly single minded devotion and I just don't have that kind of focus nor do I have that kind of money!
  2. Food Network was a channel I watched everyday and then... well too much Emeril, well actually too much showman and not enough Emeril on at all hours, that was my first turn off. Now, they seem to be catering to an audience who are not entertained by cooking, their interest is only held if there are gimics. Food Network is scrambling as are all other networks to attract the twenty-somethings and those of us in the "older than that" age have to suck it up because they are not going to change. We can only hope the target audience will eventually become bored with the mind numbing reality shows which are cropping up with all networks and come back to something that actually takes talent to produce.
  3. I'm thinking I will have to give pond scum a try if it is as good as fiddleheads. Likely will be much less expensive for a wonderful treat too!!

    Popcorn at home

Okay, that's it, I have been looking at those nifty popcorn popping pots and have actually hesitated. One will be mine by tomorrow night and I cannot wait to try some of the great ideas on this wonderful thread.
  5. As a Canadian, I am very familiar with them and love them. I was shocked to read that some people don't like them. They must be an acquired taste and one that I got right away as I loved them from first bite. They are not earthy tasting if they are fresh, young and well prepared. A short gentle steaming, a pad of butter, salt, pepper and I am in heaven.
  6. I found it by accident while standing in a checkout line at my grocery store so naturally, had to get it. I am quite impressed and thought most of the recipes were very good and even... simple enough for me. This is only the second issue, I somehow missed the first one completely but I am considering getting a subscription too.
  7. I will never again forget to put the coffee caraffe in the coffee maker before turning it on and going to take a shower! What a mess.
