  1. I drop recipes into Google Drive and group them in broad general categories before serious organizing. Average 60 to 120 recipes per hour. Videos are downloaded into Google Drive and organized when I get a group of them. I've organized thousands of recipes and several hundred videos. When notes are needed I dictate them via voice recognition. I work on it all when I have extra time.
  2. FWIW-Here's my kitchen PC set-up. A 2008 HP xw4600 Workstation that I paid $100 for about 8 years ago. Easily running free Xubuntu 18.04 Linux. The monitor is a 27" Acer—portrait orientation. One of the nice things about portrait orientation is that I can read an entire recipe from anywhere in the kitchen—zooming if necessary. I keep almost all of my personal recipes organized in Google Drive. I keep 4 copies of ALL my files on 4 separate drives. One copy is at my brother's house—just in case... Shown is a recipe from Escoffier's A Guide to Modern Cookery—1907
  3. I'm currently using 26.1 GB of Google Drive space for my various interests. I do quadruple backups, just in case!
  4. You can search within any specific file in Google Drive. Use keywords in the title of whatever to make searching and sorting easier. Specific ingredients can be found via a general search.
  5. Folders, tags and or labels in Google Drive.

Showcase the saddle and fry the rest.
  7. I'm set for months with necessities. The only thing I'm unfortunately low on is tea. I guess I can order that via Walmart.
  8. For what it's worth, when I'm speed chilling meat before grinding it for sausage I "blast" it on sheet pans in a small chest freezer with a $20 high-velocity fan. It's only takes a few minutes. If I'm doing a double grind a use a Hamilton Beach disher, before chilling, to make balls of appropriate size for my meat grinder. Works a treat!
  9. [Amazon Pantry] "Deliveries may take up to 21 days" Here's a bargain: One can of 14.5 oz. Hunt's Petite Diced Tomatoes, $8.62 In Stock. Ships from and sold by Amazon Pantry.
  10. Walmart will limit customers and create one-way traffic inside its stores
  11. Thousands of products are out of stock or the price has been jacked up by third party sellers. Amazon Pantry was over-rated before this crisis, unless one is a carbohydrate addict. I had trouble putting together a $35 order before things went to hell! The only Prime things I've ordered recently are avocado oil and some nutritional supplements.
  12. Under location, click on "Central New Jersey."
  13. I strain it for one reason only. I use it various ways and unstrained bits can go quite bitter in some applications. My Grandfather Fisher and my uncle used to fry breakfast in a 3/4" to 1" of bacon fat! I don't use quite that much! As much as I love bacon fat I prefer my eggs fried in good schmaltz — it's a wonderful combination. That's not to say that I never use bacon fat or butter. Bacon Fat Gingersnaps are great! I'm a lover of bacon and old-fashioned cookies!
  14. Venison Meunière — thin pieces of venison coated with seasoned flour, pounded thinner, and fried in clarified butter. A family tradition. DEVINE! Campfire toast slathered with butter and topped with chopped yolky egg. I love the very light smoky flavor. Anything bacon!!! Grilled steak with wild mushroom beurre monté. Confits (duck, chicken, pork, turkey, bacon, etc.) Potted Meats — various combinations of flavors. Charcuterie of all kinds and various cheeses! Anything BBQ! Classic fish and chips. Plain New York style cheesecake. And many more!!!
  15. Just to be clear—the point of my post is that social-distancing while shopping and such is imperative no matter the time of the month or method of payment.
  16. Trader Joe's is possibly coming to Ithaca, NY. That would be good news for me, the potential location is just 30 miles away.
  17. It's the first week of the month, that means that most SSI, SSDI, SNAP, etc. payments become available. Friends working at Walmart said it was like Black Friday there! So much for social-distancing!!! Scary!!!
  18. I should have warned folks about this weeks ago. I did manage to get some of what I need....Walmart was sold out at at least one point. My sister needs access to many lids—she sells jams, jellies, pickes, etc. out in North Dakota. Quality brand name webcams went fast for those wishing to video chat!!!
  19. Unreal! A boycott will likely harm the innocent more than a 10% pay cut ever could. Anyway, the decision has been reversed. The CEO will now go without pay for three months.
  20. It's getting close to Easter. I'm sure many fear not getting a ham so they're ordering early.
  21. A new addition! Smoke, Roots, Mountain, Harvest Lots of contemporary recipes mixed in but appears to be a good cookbook.
  22. Hmmm....Yeah, I do have a container of shelf-stable hermetically sealed tofu that I could use. I forgot all about it! Thanks!
  23. I want to make some low-carb venison and mushroom soup, but I don't have any fresh mushrooms — and I'm afraid to go buy some!
