  1. I found this yesterday while cruising cocktail web sites, and made it for last night's cocktail: Orange Bloom Martini 2 Oz. Gin 1 Oz. Cointreau 1 Oz. Sweet vermouth 2 Dashes Orange Bitters Shake. Serve in chilled Cocktail Glass with a maraschino cherry for garnish Not at all bad
  2. Looked at Creme Yvette, and passed at +/- $60; went for Drillaud Creme Violette at Total Wine (a "superstore"). Will try it in an Aviation this weekend.
  3. The Barbancourt is a great rum @ $20. I also think that Doorley's XO @ $15 (here in NJ) and Pusser's @ $22 are spectacular rums. All three are always on my shelf!
  4. For my everyday bourbon, Evan Williams Black label @ $16.00 for 1 Liter (here in NJ)
  5. Actually 2 oz of rye makes it even better - I just compared the index card that I jotted the measurements onto, and I [mistakenly, perhaps out of habit] wrote "2 Oz. Rye or bourbon"! And that's the ratio I've been using! Yes, decidedly Manhattan-ish, and quite good. I will keep it at 2 oz. of Sazerac, and tonight try the Angoustora instead of the Orange. Thanks!
  6. Thank you for this recipe! I had no Grand Marnier, so I substituted Cointreau, and added two dashes of Regan's Orange Bitters! I used Sazerac Rye and loved the resulting cocktail! Delicious!
  7. Doorly's XO @ $14.99 (here in NJ) is exceptional rum; Evan Williams bourbon @ $13.50 is a great bargain.
  8. I'll concur. Growing up in NYC post-WW2 with parents from Italy, I'm used to seeing it on the table, along with anisette, served with espresso (to be sipped).
  9. Canton Cocktail 1 1/2 oz rum (I've been using Doorly's XO or Barbancourt 5-star) 1/4 oz Cointreau 1/4 oz maraschino liqueur I've really been enjoying these...
  10. Sazerac has a 6 year-old rye at the same price point as the Wild Turkey 101 (recently hard to find) which is $22 in NJ. Doesn't compare to the Sazerac 18 year old, but the price is right!
