  1. I want to be clear that I was not taking a stab at Chef Homario or Moto, nor did i intend to, but was just stating my observations Grant Thanks for the post,
  2. Chiacgo has been privy to this cuisine for over two years. It is called Trio and it is in Evanston. Seems like alot of influence on Motos menu came from Chef Achatz. Just a thought.

    The Wine Clip

I've posted a couple of preliminary results and anticipate doing more testing at the Heartland Gathering this weekend. I'd still like to encourage you and Klinger75 to do some as well. I'll wait for the results before attempting any kind of statistical analysis. A potential problem is that the methodologies used so far don't quite match and, as FG said somewhere in his rants, we've managed to control most, but not all, extraneous variables. I'll do the best I can, though. Dennis said that tester could opt to keep the clip for $20 (the same price he's now charging all eG members); if returned he would send the tester $10. After reading and following all of this nonsense I have decided not to do any tests and am going to determine for myself and only myself. I have also decided to return the clip to Dennis. There is so much immaturity out there towards someone none of you know that it amazes me. I thought many of you were professionals. Aparently not Adios- Klinger
  5. Mike, I am not sure if George Morone has settled his shoes yet, and the name of where he was going is slipping my mind, but i feel he has been one of the more consistent chefs in SF over the years. I wouldnt classify his food as avant garde, but a wonderful meal indeed. Also a good meal at Zuni last time I was there( May 03) I hope all is well with you. Touch base soon Klinger
  6. Wayside gardens in Short Hills for white corn and jersey tomatoes in good years. I hear that this has not been a good year?
  7. Stanleys on lincoln and armitage IMO has the best fried chicken in the city. The sides, ( tater tots, mashed potatoes. . .) are excellent as well. The only downfall is the crowd later in the evening
  8. Thanks, always love gift certificates. Cant wait to try red light. Any thoughts?
  9. Bill, indeed the 74' marthas is up there among the tops i have tasted.(on numerous occasions) I am sorry to say that the wine is defenitly fading and has seen better days . A wonderful experience although.
  10. Gordon, the next botttle opened has your name on it. Provided you are in chicago? Yes, Krankl is the SQN guy, did some private bottlings through havens before he opened his own facility klinger
  11. 1985 Heitz Marthas vineyard On several occasions has been an absolute gem. 1992 Havens Black and Blue made by Manfred Krankl another knockout. Sorry about the corked bottle Gordon.
  12. Just had a wonderful meal at adega this past saturday evening. Not only was the food and service top notch, but sommelier Chris Farnum's list and knowledge are over the top. I was quite hesitant as what to expect as Denver has never been revered as a great fine dining restaurant town. After my experience this past weekend I can hope Chef Brian and his staffs influence will entice others in Denver to head in this direction. Details on the meal to follow. Klinger
  13. Where is this? I think he's talking about the place at 7825 Beverly, and I agree the bagels are good. Parking is a hassle in the morning before work unfortunately. Yes, this is the place Hollywood and Jf. Sorry about the delay. Great lox as remember as well!
  14. The bagel broker in LA is excellent. Ask for Jason, he's a really great guy. Klinger

    'Think it'll rain

Jim, Another great one. The 1972 PX from Toro Albala is a truly wonderful wine and your description is right on. One of my favorites In regards to the Lamborghini: I don't get it either! Regards, Klinger
  17. Two words about "The Restaurant" PURE COMEDY.
  18. Got me there Matthew. Didn't even think of that
  19. Take the lightbulb out of your fridge and store it there. Should hold up for a good amount of time.
  20. I love the old Milburn diner. Don's in livingston was the tops back when it was open. (if we consider that a diner)
  21. Ronnie, what a wonderful report I am glad you enjoyed Naha so much as it is one of my favorites in the city Klinger
  22. NSM As i was salavating in my last post I competely forgot about dessert. Erin is a wonderful pasrty chef and turns out very creative very tasty desserts. Chocolate dome is great as is the chocolate honeycomb. Great selection of homemade ice creams. The warm spicy chocolate soup served as a mignardise(sp) has been a winner in the past as well. klinger
  23. dean, was just there last night (for drinks only) Spring is one of the consistent tops in chicago at the moment. Every meal has been great. The wine list has come a long way and Sue has done a terrific job sourcing out some very unique esoteric wines. Defenitly leave it up to her if you are unsure as she will defenitly steer you in the right direction. For appetizers, the eggplant masala, potato/scallop ravioli, lobster salad, fois gras, lemongrass soup, tuna nicoise salad with white anchovies(umm) are some of the most recent offerings that I have enjoyed. As the main fish courses tend to change on a frequent basis, i would say that you can't go wrong with any of them. If you are going for meat the beef tenderloin is great as are the sea scallops with seared oxtail . FYI: chef McClain just began doing a tasting menu that is very inexpensive and there are wines available for an extra 15 dollars or so. Hope this helps, Have fun klinger
  24. after eating mr beef 2-3 times a week i have come to conclude that Al's #1 is better and more consistent. cant wait till saturday guajolote
  25. I always remember eating at la strada in milburn. Great thin crust. anyone been lately?
