  1. I took the wife for her birthday lunch last week and we had a phenomenal meal. I was slightly nervous that it wouldn't live up to my expectations but it surpassed them, simply fantastic in every way. We had the tasting menu which, if I remember correctly, featured: Little Radish and Goats Cheese Tartlets Oyster with Bramley Apple and Lardo Baked Oyster with Rasberry Granita Leek Chowder with Home Cured Ham Brill Tea with Bladderwrack Seaweed Brill with Smoked Roe Sauce, Sea Purslane, Sea Beet Shoulder and Rack of Lamb Cream Cheese Ice Cream, Pear Puree, Meringue Crumble Plus a huge amount of addictive home made bread and butter. Everything was cooked perfectly and the Brill was the standout dish of the day. It entered my top three meals of all time, behind The Fat Duck and Hibiscus, but ahead of the likes of L'Enclume, Sat Bains, Waterside Inn, and Le Champignon Sauvage and Pied a Terre. The fact that the atmosphere is so relaxed is what made it so special. I can't wait to return.
  2. I bought medium sized silicon ones at Divertimenti and mini from Nisbets. I have searched extensively for copper moulds but have never found them in the UK. Plus they are about 8 euros each in France!
  3. Porterhouse and ribeye were £18.50 per KG (on the bone). I can't remember how much the fillet was, maybe £34. I also got 2 kg of marrow bones (£6)> Prices are better than the Ginger Pig, probably about average for London, not sure how it compares to outside London but better than other online deliveries (Well Hung etc). In all it came to £59, but it is a bit of a treat.
  4. I took delivery of a mix of shorthorn cuts from East London Steak Company yesterday, a 1kg Porterhouse, double ribeye on the bone, and some fillet. The marbling on the porterhouse looks good, not as good on the ribeye. I'm a big fan of the Longhorn that they favour at Hawksmoor, and Galloway which I've had elsewhere. I'll be cooking everything tomorrow night so will post on the results, doing some sous vide and then flashed on the bbq.
