  1. Another vote for Goodman here. Just prefer the atmosphere, service and steaks there. Hawksmoor is good, but I've never been served anything less than perfect at Goodman, whereas I had the ropiest bit of cow ever at Hawksmoor last year (ok, they took it off the bill, but it should never have left the kitchen).
  2. I went a couple of weeks ago for my birthday and it was perfect. We shared the smoked haddock omelette to start and are still talking about how something that was so rich could taste so light. I then had the duck (from Great British Menu 2010), which came with duck-fat chips (could have eaten a LOT of those!). Boyfriend had steak. Suffice to say, we didn't chat much as we were too busy eating! It's a charming little place, service is extremely friendly and I really appreciated the little touches, such as a birthday card for me on our table. Boyfriend also loved that not an eyelid was batted when he requested a pint of ale with his dinner. Overall, definitely a new favourite place. Can't wait to go back.
  3. Was also lucky enough to visit for the soft launch. Gorgeous, romantic (in a good way) venue. Food as stunning as the original. Can't comment on the triple-cooked chips, but the beef dripping ones were amazing - I could have eaten them all night. It deserves to do as well as I'm sure it will.
