  1. I had an email yesterday from Pierre Jancou saying: That's right, Racines is changing hands on Friday. A little birdie told me that her friend David, who used to run le Café Moderne, is the new proprietor. I wrote more about it here.
  2. p.s. they seem to have taken the practical info down from the blog (http://table28paris.blogspot.com/), but they're open for dinner Wednesday-Sunday.
  3. He's also offering takeout family meals, like a whole chicken with sides and dessert for four people for ~52€. Thursday night he's roasting a whole cochon de lait on the new rotisserie, and lunch will begin soon (sandwich de porcelet!). Daniel himself is still cooking at the moment, but he'll soon be turning his attention to the boutique (opening in November) and the rue Bailleul restaurant (possibly March 2010). I wrote more about it here: http://megzimbeck.com/2009/10/you-cant-keep-a-good-man-down/
  4. Phyllis knows more than almost anyone about the Paris scene, and her local expertise (along with that of John Talbott) was an important foundation for those lively France Forum discussions. And while moderator Chris Mirault kindly reminded me that John and Phyllis stepped down voluntarily and will continue to contribute, I still can't imagine what eGullet will be without their leadership. In any case, thanks Phyllis for your much-appreciated contributions, and I look forward to reading you elsewhere in the future.
  5. eGullet won't be the same without John Talbott, whose tireless organization (those compendia are amazing!) and regular, thoughtful contributions are the reason I joined and promoted this site. John, I'll be following you on your website, which I recently named in Budget Travel as one of the Top Ten Paris food blogs. Thanks for your many years of important work!
