I am off to Oman next week I have travelled a bit to the Gulf before but not for a while, any tips would be very gratefully received, if not I will try and give a few tips when I get back...can't wait for those shwarmas!!!

HI I am shortly off on holiday to Rhodes island in Greece and after scouring many internet sites have yet to find a scrap of info about worthy restaurants to visit Having been to the islands as a poor student many years ago all I really remember eating was souvlakis, or gyros pitta plus the ubiquitous Greek salad doused very liberally with the free oil and vinegar and dunking large hunks of bread !! Now fortunately my finances have taken a slight turn for the better and I am now able to samples if not the finer then certainly the more expensive restaurants whilst I am on my hols. I would be very grateful for any assistance that anyone could provide, we are staying in Ixia which I am led to believe is about 4km from Rhodes Town where I suspect we will eat most nights Looking forward to your suggestions Ben

Hi folks I am off to visit Perth in October, from London and haven't been there now for a few years Can anyone recommend good eating places in the city I will be there for a couple weeks so cheap lunchtime places to dearer evening restaurants would be much appreciated Also I am off to Brisbane for a couple of days in the middle of my visit so any ideas there would be handy aswell Thanks in advance for your excellent suggestions!!!

Went the other day with the other half...had a good couple of hours probably made better by the fact that we got ' buy one entry get one free' with that weeks Time Out...have a look in TO the week you want to go but I think the offer was for summer only Fairly interesting...held the attention well enough...wine tastings were a bit stingy ...and I would advise steering clear of anything too off the wall ...the Chinese Cab Sauv I tried was minging We went on a Sat so were able to enjoy the excellent Borough Market for a spot of shopping / lunch beforehand Overall it was a good few hours but maybe not quite up there if you and guests are big wine experts

Thanks for the advice Dstone...actually I am quite partial to the odd portion of tripe...used to eat it in the covered market in Sheffield in my student days...great with a good splash of vinegar ...hopefully I will ' have a great tripe ' ...and Fitz if I am back before you go I will post any recommendations I come back with Cheers Ben
