  1. In reverse order: Today's Lunch: Yaletown Market - Mex Veg Flax Roll Last night's dinner: Azia Restaurant - It was a 'Chef Suggestion' type of meal, where we all put in $25 and the chef/waiter chooses our meals to share. I don't quite remember all of it but we had szchewan beans, 2 types of sushi rolls, the deep fried ebi, beef tataki, chicken lettuce wrap, curry chicken, mongolian pork, moo shu pork wrap, chicken cashew, banana leaf wrapped fish Sunday Lunch: Legendary Noodle House - large noodle soup, xiaolongbao, peashoots
  2. Yaletown Brewing Company - lunch with coworkers. I ordered the Veggie Burger which is nice and juicy, and generous with the veggies. Very not 'garden burger' like. Rodney's Oyster House - weekend dinner with friends. Ordered the cold marinated mussels, pasta, and clam chowder. I'd pass on the mussels next time. Clam chowder was to die fore and pasta was just ok but scallops were big and fresh Phnom Penh - Sunday lunch with friend. Of course had to order to the fried chicken and they were addictive. The marinated butter beef reminds me of the japanese tataki...that was yummy too. And shared a large lemon grass chicken combo that included the vietnamese ham, sunny side up eggs, some shredded pork (don't know which part of the pig), and raw veggies.
  3. The trattoria italian kitchen is on my list too Heard the new Burgoo on Main has been getting mixed reviews of friendly service but so so food...not up to par as their West 10th older sibling.
  4. Chambar and Blue Water I'm not surprised. But like what you alluded to, I don't think this list represents all of the busy / in high demand restaurants. I would also add: Araxi Chow Diva at the Met Gotham Steakhouse Tojo's Fuel There's probably way more And also any good restaurant that serves decent weekend brunches. ←
  5. They serve pho? Isn't that place Cambodian? The sandwiches are ok, but I love the atmosphere mostly! All the temporary workers and local alcoholics gathering in the sunshine ! ← LOL, yep the first time I went that 'crowd' was there. 2nd time I went, interestingly enough, a large Japanese family was there. I sometimes go to Pho Tan (sp?) around E.30th, they're ok too.
  6. Those macaroons look soooo good I prefer going to Sweet Revenge http://sweet-revenge.ca/. It has a Victorian/old-style-Shanghai feel to it. It's always busy during the after-dinner hours. It's a super cute place with hundreds types of teas to accompany your dessert. I rather come here then Death By Chocolate or True Confections. And it's hard to find too...even though I've been there at least 4 times now...the last time I just walked by it and missed it.
  7. Bon Cafe on Main and 33rd is a hidden gem. It's like the next place to go if Au Petit cafe is busy. If you don't mind the really minimalistic interior (I sat at a set up picnic table) it's a place worth going. I like the soup used because it's light and doesn't give you the odd after taste. The noodles are thinner than the usual type you find but generally it's pretty big portion. The sandwiches are good too. And as an after (or during) meal treat, you can order bubble tea too.
  8. Coo Coo cafe has always been a staple of Yaletown. They're known to make good strong espressos. But I would pass on their chai latte. I've ordered it twice with soy and for some reason both times tasted like spice flavoured water. I think since JJ Beans opened at the corner Coo Coo has lost some of the local business. I go to JJ Beans more often now because of the tasty huge cookies and muffins.
