  1. Sushi Pasta w/ Fresh summer tomatoes -- a simple pomodoro or something similar. And for some reason it's got to be long noodles--linguine, spaghetti, fettucini...anything long will do. Raw summer tomatoes -- preferably celebrities from my dad's garden--the sweetest tomatoes on the planet. (at least on my planet)
  2. Mom's Waffles 2 c flour 1 Tbl Baking Powder 1 tsp salt 1 tsp Baking Soda a little cinnamon a little nutmeg 2 c Buttermilk 4 eggs, separated 1/2 c melted butter 2 Tbl. syrup a little vanilla Stir dry ingredients together. Combine egg yolks and buttermilk. Add egg yolk mixture to dry ingredients. Stir in slightly cooled butter. Add syrup and vanilla. Fold in eggwhites, leaving little fluffs of them showing in the batter. Bake in waffle iron. (duh!) The also make yummy pancakes...especially if you forget to bring the waffle iron to the weekend getaway...d'oh Keywords: Breakfast, Waffle Iron ( RG580 )

    Waffles!

According to my friends i am waffle queen but it's my mom's recipe and it's no-frills really. No yeast, just separated eggs, beaten like crazy until you can stand a fork up in 'em! And i have a Cuisanart waffle iron that i like for its size and because it's worlds faster than my old crappy, generic waffle iron i threw out the window. This is my recipe: Mom's Waffles 2 c. flour 1 Tbl Baking Powder 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. Baking Soda a little cinnamon a little nutmeg 2 c. Buttermilk 4 eggs, separated 1/2 c. melted butter 2 Tbl. syrup a little vanilla Stir dry ingredients together. Combine egg yolks and buttermilk. Add egg yolk mixture to dry ingredients. Stir in slightly cooled butter. Add syrup and vanilla. Fold in eggwhites, leaving little fluffs of them showing in the batter. Bake in waffle iron. (duh!) The also make yummy pancakes...especially if you forget to bring the waffle iron to the weekend getaway...d'oh!
  4. Tomatoes from my dad's garden...sure there are farmer's market tomatoes but even those have to be firm enough to make it to the market...there's nothing like dad's tomatoes--sugarsugarsugar. Porcinis--cant' wait until november! Pluots/Plumcots -- my newest favorite summertime stonefruit. I basically devour everything that ripens in the summer and then mourn their loss for the next 9 months.
  5. The fact that they'd have to point out that "flavor differences will occur" if you substitute peppermint for vanilla....wow...that's just...wow.

    white zinfandel

I actually got my start on Strawberry Boons Farm But you know you've got to keep the White Zinfandel on hand for the ladies...until you can afford the Cristal And ya, the Bonny Doon pink is rather tasty, but i have such a problem drinking pink wine! Randall Graham lives up the street from me, parks his Citroen on the street and occasionally too close to the curb so when it lowers itself, it gets stuck....but that has nothing to do with the wine!
  7. better late than never huh? I haven't been around here in ages but just got a message from Stone so thought i'd pop in...I finally posted my "review" on FoodPorn just the other day: http://www.foodporn.com/tabledance/frenchlaundry.html I sooo want to go back again!! I'll try to visit the forums more often but i'm a flake so i'm not guaranteeing anything
  8. Ya, i haven't been able to drink the stuff since i dyed my hair with it. Rockadile red was the best dye...Cherry wasn't vibrant enough, my hair was too dark to begin with.

    It's Sunday

Well, this weekend it was Cheerios, OJ and Peet's Jasmine Fancy tea! FANCY!!! No elaborate sunday meal this week, we slept too late and my hubby had to go into work :( Typically we'll hit one of our local favorite restaurants or i'll make my world famous "mom's waffles" (http://www.foodporn.com/photos/oct2001/pag...es/DSCN0001.htm) but alas, not today.
  10. We had a phenomenal meal at Arpege year before last and my husband had phenomenal case of food poisoning afterwards....quite unfortunate since we enjoyed the meal so much, it really wasn't as good the second time! We're guessing it was the Uni...blech...but i left that part out of the review http://foodporn.com/tabledance/larpege.html

    Zinfandel

I'm pretty much a fan of ever Zin that Ridge has produced...even some of the Late Harvests that I was afraid of turned out not to be sweet but 16% alcohol! (hmm, i've only had a glass, why am i light-headed?)

    Yogurt

Brown Cow is my favorite...Strawberry :) I like both the Whole milk and the Low Fat versions
  13. you can put them in the microwave and watch them blow up
  14. but if i get home from work late and don't have tomatoes on hand (winter, i usually dont) and i'm tired and don't want to chop anything, just want instafood.....jarred sauce is great to have on hand.
  15. I made a wonderful wild mushroom stuffing for Thanksgiving and Xmas this year and last! It's quite a hit: http://www.foodporn.com/amateur/dec2001/pa...es/DSCN0004.htm And i don't really have a recipe for this one but pizza is a great treatment of the mushrooms if you have a huge haul! http://www.foodporn.com/hardcore/november2...es/DSCN0054.htm
