  1. Thank you, Ron - that's a lot of great information! I really appreciate the links to your recommendations. I'll post here again when and if I need more info, but this seems more than enough to consider for now.
  2. Hello all....I'll be meeting up with a friend from out of town at the Convention Center on Good Friday. We're not sure yet whether we'll be having lunch or dinner, so I'd love any dining recommendations that can accommodate either. Any cuisine is fine, except Italian. (We love Italian; we just want to try something different.) I know the Reading Terminal Market is right across the street, and we're pretty close to Chinatown, so any experiences with those locations would be welcome. TIA!
  3. I think that might depend on what cuisine interests you most, but if you love pizza, please head to DeLorenzo's Tomato Pies on Hudson Street. There are also DeLorenzo's on Hamilton Avenue in Trenton (which plenty of people say is just as good) and on Route 33 in Robbinsville. DeLorenzo's has been discussed extensively on other threads here, so search the forum if you want more info. Just be forewarned that the Hudson Street location predates the requirement that establishments which serve food must have bathrooms, so there is no restroom! Where is Szechuan House in Trenton?
  4. Chocolate sounds like a good solution to me! If you would like to bring some that's exceptional, I highly recommend Genevieve's Chocolates on Ray Street in Garfield. It's a family-owned business that's been there for something like 50 years, and I think it's the best of its kind, bar none. They have just about any type you'd want: milk, dark or white, and all types of filled or chocolate-covered candies.
  5. Hi Keba...I do remember that place, although I think they spelled it Sgarlato's? I also remember their pizza as thin crust with a nice sauce. I thought it was good, too. Wasn't there also one at Willowbrook Mall? I haven't been to Paramus Park in ages because I moved to central NJ many years ago. In fact, I think the last time I was there, Abraham and Strauss was still open! I remember the food court pretty well, especially the crepe place and Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor, which was among the first to have that singing-waiter stunt if you came in there for your birthday.
  6. That is good news! First-time poster, longtime reader here...so glad to be contributing to the conversations about food in New Jersey. (At least, I hope I make some contributions!) I've lived in this state all my life -- born in North Jersey, but residing in South Jersey and Central Jersey for the past 25+ years. Anyway, my husband and I lived in Chambersburg, literally right up the block from Tattoni's, for a number of years. I loved that little restaurant! Not only was the food great, but the personal attention was unrivaled. Okay, so they only had -- what, 10 tables? I guess that made it easier for the chef to step out of the kitchen and ask you how you liked your dinner. It sure added to the experience. I hope the new location can retain some of that charm.
