  1. Agreed Mike. Also they have to add the taxes created by the legislature. Mark
  2. Don't mean to be a defender of the PLCB, but...show me where you can get the '05 Trilogy for less than $35? Flora Springs admitted that they got ahead of themselves and overproduced Trilogy. They made 10,000 cases of the 2001 which we got for $24.99. The 2002 (7700 cases produced) and 2003 (6200 cases produced) were $29.99, and now the 2005 is $34.99 where only 5000 cases were produced. So clearly they are reducing supply to try to solidify pricing. What about Kilikanoon? We have almost the entire product range and nearly all are far and away the best prices anywhere. Steven Kent Cab, Testarossa Chard, Gloria Ferrer sparkling, all cheapest in the country. The thing to keep in mind is that the ex started with only a handful of terrific deals. It's become a recognized "brand" and now they have well over 100 offerings. Should we expect insane prices on every one? Mark www.pawinetalk.com
  3. PAWineTalk has a ratings section where a number of folks have rated current Chairman's Selections, Power Purchases, etc. At the top: Cims de Porrera Solanes # 25958 Vall Llach Embruix Priorat # 26255 Parson's Flat Shiraz-Cab # 27526 Les Verrières Clos des Soutyères # 19071 Gloria Ferrer Royal Cuvee # 29274 Mark
  4. Price for the Whitehall Lane 2-pack started off at $99.99 last year and it sold very slowly, so they dropped the price to $74.99. It was $59.99 for a week in March when they had the Chairman's Selection 20% off sale, but then it went back up to $74.99. Then this Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday (but not Friday!) to celebrate the three wine festivals, they dropped the price 10% supposedly on all wines being poured at the festivals, although this wasn't widely advertised and the discount seems to have been applied a bit inconsistently. Anyway that's why you probably got it for under $70, but tomorrow it's back to $74.99. No question it's a terrific price. Think of it as paying regular price for the reserve and getting a bottle of the non-reserve thrown in for free. I hope you enjoy it.
  5. There's an article in today's Post-Gazette about direct shipping. It contains a link to an online petition "that proposes a system of registering wineries to direct ship and making them responsible for fee and tax collections." You can read the article here: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08126/879265-389.stm Check it out and go sign it! Mark
  6. The PLCB reduced prices on a bunch of Power Purchases today (only whites for whatever reason) to clear them out, some by over 50%. There is a list of all Power Purchases with some reviews here: http://www.pawinetalk.com/power/ I went to a non-premium collection store and they had them all on a table with signs saying "Last Chance." Some of these are real deals. Mark
