  1. Jackson's Meats will be reopening in their original location at 4th and Yew. Can't wait to go Christopher Jackson confirmed in this comment.
  2. Thomas Haas sends them in frozen and they are baked there. ← That would explain why they are so good Thanks!
  3. Oh, and check out Agro Café if you are in Yaletown or Granville Island. They have a Clover and are very into making sure the coffee farmers are fairly compensated.
  4. I've been to the 49th Parallel café several times now. It's my favourite place for coffee in Vancouver now. They have every piece of coffee geek kit you could imagine and use it to produce consistently great drinks. I especially like how when you order an espresso it comes on a little tray paired with a glass of water. Nice touch. Also try the croissants there, they are really nice, I wonder who makes them?
  5. Hi, I'm wondering if anyone knows about restaurant supply stores around Vancouver that are open to the public. I saw this blog post that talks about Genesis Food Equipment on Powell. I want to pick up some mixing bowls and various tools for my starting kitchen and I'm hoping I can get a better deal at one of these places. So, which are the best ones? Are they worth it compared to regular kitchen stores? Any idea what operating hours are like?
  6. I went to try Boneta last night. Last minute plans, but we called and they managed to fit our large party into a great table in their lounge. We were served by their "mixologist" who had an amazing amount of information about each of the drinks and the history of the building. The service was great and everyone complimented the food. I haven't been to many of the new restaurants this year, but from what I can tell Boneta worked hard for their top spot for best new informal restaurant.
