  1. Hi XioLing Thank you very much for all the trouble! I used the powder last night and i improvised a bit. I used lotus leaves to wrap the pork spareribs and i put long bean too. I also mix the powder with a little bit of Szechuan broad bean. It came out really nice. I will definitely make it again. Next time i will try sweet potatoes with spare ribs. By the way, do you have any wuhan spare ribs recipe that you can share?
  2. Hi Jo and Xio Ling Thank you very much for the recipe. Xio Ling, the pork belly looks so delicious. I just finished my dinner and I am hungry again after seeing the pic! Pork fat is the best !
  3. I bought this powder from China town but the package does not have English instructions. The package simply states Jenrofen Powder for Steamed Meat five spice. http://store.asianfoodstuff.com/67.html There are two type of powder inside the package, jenrofen powder and meat marinating mix. What should I do with this? The meats in the picture looks as if it has been deep fried instead of steamed. Help pls
  4. Wah look great! How big is the store? I really have to make trip to Sydney. Does it sell fish sausage We have Fujimart in Melbourne. It is of decent size but I cant find fish sausage . I really want to try it after reading Hiroyuki post about the sausage
  5. Belachan (malaysian term) or also know as "terasi" in indonesia is a fermented shrimp paste. I am not aware that Vietnamese also use Belachan in their cooking (but then I havent really cooked much Vietnamese cuisine) . I know for sure that Thai use fermented shrimp paste but they dont call it belachan.

  8. Natho This could be bit off topic however, you may want to know that there will be chilli festival in melbourne on 16 and 17 February http://www.hsfff.com/hsffmain.htm
  9. I recently discovered Dainty Sichuan (which is located on Corrs Lane, Melb). The food is spicier than Spicy Fish and taste so much better than Spicy Fish. Just word of warning, some of the food prob will be too spicy for those who cant eat spicy food. I have no trouble with it but then I have very high tolerance to chilli.
